"Best" pocket clip

I think the standard CRK clip is one of the very best. I really like that the indent locks in the clip more securely against the hem when the knife is seated in the pocket.. feels like an added layer of security to me, which is definitely appreciated on an expensive knife. Seems like such a simple thing, but it's nothing short of genius, imo.

Some stand outs from my experience:

CRK - agreed on the secondary bend/indentation and what that does to add to retention

Spartan/Hinderer - they are so similar I lump them together; I don't care too much for Hinderer's knives, but he makes a fine clip

ProTech - they set the standard as far as deep carry clips IMO, they properly recess the screws and the top of the clip so there is no snagging or long-term damage to your pockets

If you are going aftermarket, Lynch makes the best based on my experience; they aren't cheap, but they are worth it.

I like the standard Benchmade/Emerson style clip. Not a fan of deep carry.

On a related note, does anyone besides Southern grind make the shorty Benchmade style clip?

No but I've got mine laying around somewhere. I replaced it with a CF one.

MXG deep carry clips for the win! Lynch makes amazing clips too! I’ve got aftermarket deep carry clips on all of my knives that will accept them. I find myself carrying these knives more frequently as well…
Had a Lynch bend on me pretty easily, are the MXG clips any sturdier?

Good ol Spyderco wire clip. Simple and basic. Spydercos regular pocket clips are just fine with me too. I also appreciate that many of Spydercos knives offer the positioning of 4 way pocket clip. Lefty, rights, tip up, or tip down, Spyderco has you covered.

I should also mention that I have never bought an aftermarket pocket clip. I make whatever I get work even if I have to bend it.

Best regular clip: Kershaw Blur/Leek

Best deep clip: Benchmade Mini Axis Stryker (not sure if any current models use this clip, but it's 1,000,000x better than their "standard" deep clip they use on most models, which sticks out too far)

The most important things for a clip are:
1. Bent spring steel. Not titanium, which tend to be twice as thick, and have worse retention, and absolutely not 3D/machined/milled
Totally agree about the 3D machined clips. People either love em or hate em (most love em I think), but that’s what ruined the ZT 0804CF for me was that lousy clip, and the fact that I could never find a replacement: if it had a normal clip it would be one of the best ZTs of all time. But for me it was a real PITA to get over the seam of my pockets.

I’d throw my hat in for Spyderco’s Drunken clip! Awesome engineering and aesthetics going on there! 🤣 But seriously, their wire clips work for me, as do the Lynch deep clips for CRKs. Don’t get out much so can’t attest to staying power (of the clips)…
