it seems like bark river has one that fits the bill, the northstar, aurora and the snow river among others. the north woods galdstone drop point hunter looks like a good one. various Helles and other scandanavian knives also look like they would work well.which other production knives do you like to use for bushcraft? remember that pictures are always helpful too:D

In addition to the "F word" the best production bushcraft knife I own is the Swamprat Ratmandu. I have a BRKT Bravo 1 on order, to see what all the fuss is about Bark River knives.

spookypistolero, what is the second knife from the bottom in the second picture?

Not a production model. It's a Tora bushcraft model, but I can't recommend it since you have to deal with both international shipping, and the grind that it comes with is unsatisfactory. Edited to add: The EKA stuff is probably the next nearest approximation. Check ragweedforge.

Spooky, okay, how about the one under the two SAK's?

That's a Newt Livesay SOP. Good little blade.

Bark River stuff is VERY well made and is a good value for the price as well. All in all, they are tough to beat.....

I have the Bark River, Fox River pattern. it is a great bushcraft blade. I also have the Swamprat Ratmandu, it is a very stout bushcraft blade, both are good for the woods!

There are so many good bushcraft knives (I have a two dozen or so). But the real question is which is best for me and how I am using it. The same knife for carving is not likely to be the best for batoning or chopping and the reverse is true. Bark River has a bunch, so do several other companies. My answer is reflected by what I carry in my day pack which I never hike with out. I carry a Eugene Model Rat Mandu and a BRKT WET RECON fixed blades and a locking SAK. The SAK (trecker model, no hole, plain blade) rides on my belt 24/7.

Any Bark River, Fallkniven or EKA.
Loose any Cold Steel junk.
Even a normal Mora knife will work, but it is not a prying tool.

Best production bushcraft knife I have personal knowledge of would be the Fallkniven H1/3G. Actually a hunting knife but a really good buscraft knife. Get the zytel sheath for it and you will be really happy. Number two would be the F1.

Bark River Bravo-1 is excellent, just a bit big for some, but I consider it perfect (it seems I'm the only one who likes a 5" knife). The Falkniven F1 and Bark River Highland Special are almost the perfect size for most, and I find myself reaching for my Highland Special a lot.

Even with price aside, My Mora 511 is about perfect. The blade is nice and thin (yet very strong) the grind is perfect for the woods, and it is very light yet very strong.
