So what's everyone's preference when they are buying production fixed blades?

I like a lot of companies and different knife models but I'd probably vote for a standard Mira knife.

Perfect combination of price, quality and traditional design.

As odd as this may sound, the best production fixed blade I ever owned was a hunter style knife Beretta was sellng a handful of years ago. Not sure who actually made it, but it was made in Spain.... I have used many higher end production blades but for whatever reason, that one was my best.

Now I would like to somehow gather all my production knives and sell them as one big lot, take the money and have John make a few more beauties for me lol!

Although there are many that I have loved, the one that first comes to my mind is the Sharpfinger. It is just an amazing design that works well in so many ways.

For all around use for me it's the Buck 119, for small game the Buck 102 is hard to beat. (No surprise I picked Buck, right?)

I picked up Damascus Hunter from Atlanta cutlery. It has real bone scales. I believe it was a smart decision of buying it.

I like the BRKT Bravo line, especially the Necker and Bravo 1. You used the word "best" though and the best production knife I own is a Randall 14. I know most people think a Randall is more for collecting than using but I have no need for a knife I won't use and the 14 makes a great user.

Hi Peter -

I have a Buck that I am particularly fond of, member Haebbie helped me find this beauty -

if leaving it stock is not a requirement, my BK16. ESEE 6 or Izula II are close seconds.

I would have to say the trusty Mora for production knives. I seem to have few of them in handy places. They are inexpensive but not cheap.

Best production knives is really hard choice. Busse. Survive knives. Bark river. Those would be companies I mess with. Esee knives are pretty nice also and come with a damn good warranty.

Yup. when i read the title, Mora was the first thing i thought of. I aslo like the Becker BK2 and BK16. there are many choices, and i don't really have experience with any others. oh, i have always wanted to get a Helle too.

btw...Peter, nice rehandle job (always wanted to do a mora). would love to see more pics. walnut?

hey, todd, thanks, and yes it is walnut, you should try it, it was a leaning experience and I enjoyed it as well.

wow. really looks great. you may just motivate me to do so. how did you get the factory handle off? cut it?

I started by trying to cut it off with a coping saw while I had it locked in a vice, that gave up on that noise and just sanded the one side away until I exposed the whole tang and pulled it out. The plastic handles are hard to cut r sand off really but ti does make a heck of a stick and if you do sand one off wear a mask, not sure what plastic dust does to a lung but guess it can't be good.

Think I have some more pictures somewhere but I'll have to root around for them.
