Uh, well, not to be too obvious, but . . .

Best for what?

"Folder" is an impossibly broad category. An Opinel is a folder. A SAK is a folder. A folding fillet knife is . . . a folder. Slipjoints -- all nine hundred flavors -- are folders. A Paul Presto is a folder. There are "tactical" folders, "hunting" folders, "utility" folders, "gentleman's" folders, and some that are practically ornamental. Oh, and AO knives (assisted openers) are folders, too.

Fixed blade?

Hunter? Camper? Jungle? Bushcraft? Fighter? Combat? Survival?

Automatics? Some are folders. Some are OTF. Some are cute. Some are elegant. Some are aggressive and scary.

Best in what way? Pretty? Strong? Sharp? Valuable/expensive? Award winning? Bang-for-the-buck? Broadest range of applications?

You'll forgive me if I can't really offer a suggestion of "best" in any of those categories.

My knowledge and experience are simply not that broad.

Now, if we were talking favorites, then I might have a prayer.

But "best" knife?

Sorry, I've got nuthin'.

I can only give opininons based off of what i have experience with, and what i have uses for but i'll give you the best out of my collection or knives i have handled. I will also add categories as I see fit

EDC modern Folder: CRK small sebenza 21
Hard use folder: BM 615 mini Ruckus
Traditional folder: GEC Northfield Pioneer
Multitool: Pick your SAK flavor, unless you need pliers then LM charge or wave variant
Butterfly knife: BM 42 i have not owned it but i have played with it
General use fixed blade: Kabar
EDC fixed blade/light outdoor use fixed blade: BRKT mini fox river
Neck knife: BRKT bravo necker, i find it cuts better than the izula.

Automatics and otfs. I have no experience but the BM bedlam looks the coolest.

These are the knives that i consider best for me, in other words my favorites. Everybody has different tastes, preferences, and price ranges so there is no "best" only personal favorites, classics, and influential knives. Just my
$0.02
