So, I decided to carve up another pumpkin this afternoon and thought about what would be the best tool. The answer was a dremel with a roto-tool zip bit, but the Karda came in a close second. There was just no way anything could beat the roto-zip through the hard shell for the long legs. However, the karda allowed me to clean it up nicely from the inside. I didn't break out the Runt, but the Karda was the bomb when it comes to pumpkins.

You read my mind! I was planning to do the same thing this weekend. I must have one of those choppers you have there!

Whoa! Just when you think no one else has a collection as large as Mark. Nice variety.
Man, you should destroy that pumpkin with the chopper after Halloween ;-)

So, if you ever get tired of that emerald Arete, let me know!

Sweet collection! I think that curly-q Karda may be the best looking "patch" knife I've seen yet!

Hi Swonut,

You have a very nice collection of Fiddleback knives! That is also a neat idea for the carving project. It looks very well done!

That is indeed a sweet collection, swonut. It looks like you've got some knives in there that are on the "discontinued" list or or just plain hard to find. Very, very nice stuff. Great job with the pumpkin as well! Haven't done that in years, wish I had read this post earlier and got the inspiration on time! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I've been blessed to be able to let Andy's Fiddleback Friday pull me through a particularly trying year long deployment. The thing that I've learned most in the pumpkin carving process is that today's pumpkins are hard and woody--- It's more a wood working effort than a food prep issue. The Bow Legged Chopper is probably the only knife that would be easy to break the hard shell. I really started with the intent to do it with only FBF knives, but the dremel with the rotozip bit is just so much better to do the heavy lifting. Again, great batch of knives today from Andy.

So, it's time for another round of pumpkin carving... New knives. Gaucho, F2, sneaky Pete, woodchuck, and Tapered Tangs... So, unleash a few bucks at the pumpkin stand and let's see what we can come up with this year.

What a great thread! :) FUN! I love the orange G10 on some of the knives! Maybe Andy can make us some for the Hall!oween season! Very festive!

So, Pumpkins are back at Walmart.... Start thinking about how to carve up a pumpkin.

woh I remember seeing this thread awhile back, and I'm even more in awe of your collection, especially all those awesome old school/thicker handles. Would love to see more of your user pics!
