Hey everyone. I've never posted in blade forums before, and I may not be doing this correctly or in the correct thread, so please bear with me. My question is , what is the most common process for quenching N690? It says" air , oil or quench plates" just curious as to what's most common. Being a lazy ass I'd just air quench, if that's acceptable? Thanks

I plate quench my N690 and have good results. I've never air quenched them so I'm not sure if there are advantages of one over the other. I like the plates because they keep everything flat.

Plate quench. Do this with blade in the stainless steel bag . Keeps it straight , free of scale and decarb ! and a good speed of quench.
