im buying a rc for a survival knife. im in college so moneys tight and if im gonna spend the money i want the best

Well, the real question is - what type of knife do you need? If you are just looking for an EDC, then you should seriously consider the Izula. It's the cheapest of all RC knives and also the smallest/lightest.

If you're looking for a camp knife, then you should consider RAT's larger offerings. The bigger the knife, the higher the price. Most around these parts recommend the RC4.

yeah i feel ya in the hurting for money department, im in college too, i got the izula. not because of price but because that is the size that i was more likely to use. i fyou are gonna be out in the woods a lot look at the 4 or the 6 of you want a chopping one think about the 5. other good EDC's are the HEST and the 3. in the end it comes down to what you are gonna use it for and preference.

tight funds go best with the Izula

the best survival knife is the one you got with you - that goes extremely well with the Izula

for some extra sturdiness without adding too much bulk and size, get the HEST

for a very good slicer and allround knife get the RC-3

for a good allround knife and if you got large hands, get the RC-4 (now we're definitely out of the pocket carry range)

Don't be fooled by the size of the Izula - it is surprisingly much knife for it's size and to me this is truly a survival knife - I have it on me on all occasions I can carry a knife at all. I hardly notice it until I need it, and most others don't notice I'm carrying at all.

RC-3. Izula is good for the budget, but it isn't really as good an overall knife as the RC-3 or 4. Personally, I think the RC-3 is really the sweet spot of the line-up and matches nicely with the RC-6 down the pipe.

Don't get me wrong, the Izula is a good knife but it is more of a specialized little blade optimized for carrying more so than using. The RC-3 is optimized for everything a small knife is useful for and is the sharpest slicer of the line-up.

im gonna be in the adarandacks at my parents place and i was gonna be donig extream backpacking with my maxpediton condor 2. love that bag. any ways i thought i might as well buy an rc 3 over the isula cuz its about the same, and i alredy got the necker and i didnt like

So far I'm happy with the value of my Izula. I am seriously considering a RC-3 or 4

If you're kickin it in the daik's.... RC3 is the best bang for the buck.

IF you want the most bang for your buck i would get the Izula:) But if i was only going to have just one :eek:RAT. it would be the H E S T. GOOD LUCK
