Looking for a folding knife with a 3-3.5" blade that is readily available online for around $100. Maker doesn't matter. Materials used aren't a real big concern either. Just needs to be really solid.

Cold Steel American Lawman. I just got a mini Lawman in a trade and can't wait to get the bigger version. I think it's very readily available and will run you about $60 or so.

I was actually looking at buying an AL or a Recon 1. I know the Recon is kinda big. Does anyone EDC this thing?

I am not sure how much has changed with the design since the japanese made ones, but I rock my Recon every once and awhile. The size is not bad but will draw attention in public. I have not had a chance to handle a Lawman, but it does seem to have a "friendlier" look.

Spyderco Tenacious, Spyderco Manix 2.

These are imo, the best built knives in that blade length, under a 100 dollars.

I like the Lawman alot, the ergos aren't my cup of tea.

If you move up to 4" range the Recons are great and Boker AK101 is an amazing knife that alot of people have slept on.

Don't know your application but Spydercos are great knives at all their price ranges. For $100 you could buy a Spydie Salt AND a Sharpmaker and not worry about sharpness or corrosion pretty-much forever.

If you want a big tough blade that is semi-custom, John Greco sells his Falcon folder on ebay for $75. This is one solid & heavy folder, clean lines but not afraid of real work. Strongest lockback design I've seen, it won't fail, but don't go expecting it to be "tactical", you'll need both hands to open & close it.

Well I was really tired of all of the positive comments I keep seeing about the Cold Steel American Lawman so I finally ordered one.

Consider the Benchmade Barrage: 3.6" 154CM spear-point style blade, fast assisted opening, Axis lock, secondary lock in either open or closed position, plain or part-serrated, pocket clip, $90 to $115 online.

I have both the full size (BM580) and the mini (BM585) versions, and they are very solid performers -- with the secondary lock engaged in the open position, they become essentially a fixed blade.

spyderco stretch zdp189. manix 2, catch the sprint run on the orange manix2 s30v ffg at cutlery shoppe. got mine reserved. just about any of the big name makers have offerings in the $100 that would work well. i like the lawman, though its not s30v or zdp189 either. at that price point id look for good steel as well as a strong lockup. all depends alot on what you intend to do with it. if your thinking of splitting wood you might want to go with a fixed blade, rat 3 comes to mind.

Spyderco Endura and Manix 2 are great options - as have been suggested already.

Lots of great suggestions, you can't go wrong with any of them. It will come down to personal preference.
