Best removable fasteners for wood scales?

I'm about to start trying my hand at making wood scales for a few fixed blade Beckers and a White River Backpacker. For now, I want the scales to be removable so I can tweak. What fasteners do you folks recommend? I'd like to buy something that I could modify to work with both thick (BK2) and thin (BK24, Backpacker) handles. Thanks for any suggestions/tips.

I use torx head screws in different sizes. I recess them in seats drilled with a counterbore.

"Chain-ring" bolts work well.

If you are focusing on Becker knives... they use standard-size bolts and nuts. There is a new BF dealer member who offers standard, stainless and blackened bolt-sets that will fit them.

I usually like to use 3/16" or 1/4" threaded pivot bolts with torx-head screws. You counterbore holes in the scales in which to seat the screw heads. You can get a very good attachment with these - without having to use epoxy. This is not as strong as epoxy+pins, but enables the scales to be removed. This also means that moisture can migrate under the scales. You'll need to ensure that you clean under this regularly, especially if using a non-stainless steel.

Talk to Jeff Petzke at Jephco. He will have what you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestion. His JP Bolts look like just what I need, and decently priced, too. Just ordered a handful along with some Corbys and Loveless for when I'm ready for permanent attachments.
