I'm looking for a Victorinox SAK to carry every day in an office environment. While I can comfortable carry my XM-18 on Fridays when I wear jeans, it os a little out of place the rest of the week. I generally wear wool slacks Monday through Thursday, so am looking for something that is slim, and am debating between a Cadet Alox and a Pioneer Alox.
Any recommendations?
My recommendation would be to get a Leatherman Micra and to drop it in the off pocket opposite of your XM-18. On days when you carry the XM-18, it's a perfect compliment to your EDC single blade of choice, giving you useful tools and a small, non-threatening option to use in the office. The secret here is to put it in your pocket and not to leave it under used on your key ring. On days when you can't carry your XM-18 (sharp knife, btw), you can go with the surprisingly powerful Micra. My bet is that if you carry a Micra for 6 months, you will never be without it after that, as you learn you can't do without the tool selection.
In New England, you sometimes see the bumpersticker "My hockey player beat up your honor student". The Micra is like that. McGuyver carries a Victorinox. Chuck Norris carries a Micra. More on this in a bit. You asked for recommendations, here are some options....
If you can get buy with out tools, you might consider just going with a small, thin and "beautiful" knife where "beautiful" is triangulated between your preferences and that of those around you. Three to consider are the Buck 501 (available custom too or the smaller 503), the Kershaw Chive (remove the clip) and the Forge de Laguille 7mm. The Chive, or something like that, is like a modern flipper downsized. Very capable.
If your office mates dig expensive and rare, the Forge de Laguille might impress. My bro-in-law is a sales exec. Lexus, Rolex and custom shoes from London type of guy. I gave him something like this and he now regularly carries this daily.

The Buck 501 is somewhere between the Chive and the Forge de Laguille. Can be had with upgraded scales and steel from Buck custom. These carry amazingly well in slacks due to their thin profile and slick bolsters.

If you really have your heart set on a Victorinox product, if I had a gun to my head (which is what it would take) and had to carry a Victorinox, it would be the Alox Executive. Has the closest thing to the selection of tools from the Micra.
Another option to consider is the Case Peanut with Scissors.

But again... these are weak compared to the Micra.
Two things about the Micra.
First, the scissors are not Nancy-boy trim a hang nail and cut a thread off of a lady's dress scissors, although they are quite capable of that. These are cut nylon strapping, zip ties and blast through aluminum flashing scissors. BAM! That was Chuck Norris's round house kick. Feel that? That's the Micra beating up another Victorinox.
Second, you can open the Micra up full length giving a fill your hand grip that gives great leverage and control and that allows you tackle tougher cutting jobs.

SLAM!! That was Chuck Norris body slamming the Victorinox toy into the ground.
Try the Micra for 6 months. You got all of $25 to loose.
