Best SAK model?

My Favorite is the officer suisse. i think i spelled that right.

That isn't the kind of knife, that's the kind of blade. which i think is actually inferior, or so i hear.

The trekker looks nice, i have been thinking about getting one to replace my old tinker. I must have been 8 when i got that.

My, first, the Recruit, is proabably my favorite.
A Hiker with sciccors instead of the saw would be nice (is this the same as a Super Tinker?)

Different models fill the "best SAK" role depending on specific conditions or environments, however I consider that the best "all-around" SAKs are the Victorinox Yeoman and the Explorer. From a minimalist point of view I'd recommend the Electrician.

Jaime Orozco.

One thing i have always wonderd. What is the purpose of that stupid little hook?

In theory, it's to carry packages wrapped with string.
My vote would be for the Outrider. Great do-it-all SAK, but a little big for pocket carry...

I started with the Fieldmaster, then moved on to the Rucksak primarily for the longer saw and larger, locking blade. I'm into wilderness survival and those SAK saws are the ticket for so many things. Mr. Ron Hood turned me on to the Rucksak in his Woodsmaster dvd's.

I prefer to carry a Huntsman when I'm using a SAK (typically backpacking in tandem with a larger blade or hatchet).

im diggin the wenger 57, a friend got one and im so gonna buy it off him :D :D only downside is that there is no toothpicks or tweezers :'(

I'm a minimalist. I have the officer Suisse somebody mentioned earlier, I've only ever used a small number of the tools. I have fallen in love with my classis ALOX Soldier; great blade, punch, can opener, cap lifter and two sizes flathead driver. Just a great tool, it's a shame it is no longer made.

My personal favorite is the huntsman. I bought it because i figured the scissors, saw and bottle opener would be nice to have, and saying that Ive been right would be an understatement. Also its the perfect size for my front pants pocket.

The blade on my "Suisse" is identical to th eblade on my Soldier. My Officer Suisse has a phillips driver, toothpick, tweezers, punch, pliers, cap lifter, can opener and something else i'm forgetting (scissors!) at the moment. I've had it for over 20 years but carried it very little. I was in a plastic darts league and carried it quite a bit then because the pliers were great for removing the snapped off tips from the board.

Alox Pioneer. It really does everything I need a knife to do for day-to-day tasks, is built with the typical Victorinox quality, and I think it looks pretty handsome with the Alox scales instead of the usual plastic.

I'd like to try out the Farmer, though...

I love it when a thread comes back to life after a 2 year sleep. :)

"Best" SAK? For me its the Explorer Plus. More or less the right combo of tools for EDC. I have had one in my pocket for a few years. If I could add a saw, that would be great. But I like the phillips that fold out 180 degrees like God intended, and the magnifier comes in mighty handy. The cork screw is worthless (for me), and the only time I have used it was to tap a coconut, resulting in the tip of the cork screw bending. I could lose the awl, hook and second blade as well.

Completely based on your own personal needs, but I use a Spartan around town (inexpensive and functional) and a Huntsman while on the trail (reasonable size with both scissors AND saw...)

I’m pretty sure that it just means “officer Swiss” in French.

Use the awl to drill the shell; if it won't reach the milk, use the corkscrew to go the rest of the way through the meat.

Mine would be a one-handed Trekker. Love the locking blade and flat screwdriver/pry bar and one-handed blade.
I have a Rescue Tool as well which is very similar, but with specific tools for emergency response.
The Trekker is probably better for EDC, depending on your job.
