I'm curious I want to start making scales so whats the most popular screw together model?
Any help will be Appreciated thanks.

Best selling Spyderco...ever...probably the Military.

Latest craze? Probably the Para2.

I see most custom scales put on the Para 2, Manix 2, Tenacious and Military. I think that would be your biggest market in that order as the Para 2 is the most sought after and not ago it was the Manix 2. I see lots of mods on the Tenacious as well as its family tree (Resilience, Ambitious, Persistence). Lots of people buy scales for the Mule Team series too. Personally I would start with the Para 2 and the Mule Team.

What type of scales are you planning on making?

But then again, there are already people making scales for the most popular models. You might want to go with a specific one that's less popular, just to kind of fine a niche. In my opinion, a cheaper knife wouldn't be a good idea, since the scales would probably be more than the knife. G10 for the Endura or Delica might be a good idea- the G10 Enduras and Delicas are missed by some people.

Well I think I'm gona start with the tenacious and some lower end models until I can build up my collection with some of the popular models.

I think your right about me finding my own thing. but I think I am gona start with some cheaper models and work my way up to the more expensive models. so I don't start by asking people to put down $50-60 for someone they've never seen with no rep.
Thanks!

I would say that the Delica would be the best selling Spyderco. The Military might be up there as well. The Delica is a great entry-level knife at a good price.

The sales for the most popular Spyder ever??? I would say it's either the Delica, Endura or maybe even the Police model>> I do know that the Military model has been around since the ATS-34 Era which puts it right about the mid to late 90s. I have no idea of their government or sales to the USA armed forces or any other military entity for that matter.

But if you're making custom scales for any of the models I've mentioned I don't see how you could go wrong with the Military or Police for that matter. I seriously doubt if anyone would even want custom scales for Delica or Endura.

I think you're right the the military probably is the most popular model and the g19 delica haven't been out for nearly as
long have they? the g10 police is a good idea to thanks.

Best selling , I bet it is the Tenacious/Persistence/Resilience line of Chinese Spydercos.

I'm very pleased with the custom scales on my Delica. If they were readily available and reasonable, I think they could sell ... but that's just me.

How about some custom scales for the Stretch? (I doubt it's the best selling Spydie though). I want a Stretch, but I just don't like the feel of FRN... so I keep resisting.

I did hear maybe there was going to be a Stretch Sprint Run this year... hopefully it will come with something other than FRN.

It's obviously the delica/endura series, followed by the Police SS. Those are the 3 knives you seen in people's pockets, cops, ems, etc.

If you made G10 scales for the Endura and Delica, that would be pretty popular. The issue would be integrating the nested liners though.

Delica or Endura (all four generations combined) is my guess. I think G-10 scales for the Delica would garner a lot of interest from the enthusiasts here. Micarta scales also have a loyal following, and have never to my knowledge been offered on Spyderco folders.

Currently, in terms of sales volume, I suspect the Delica, and the Endura, and several members of the Tenacious family would be the top sellers. In terms of knives where folks would be willing to spring for custom scales, the PM2, Manix 2, and Military would probably be the most lucrative. Do note that all of them, except the Tenacious clan and the Manix 2, have nested liners.

I also think you need to look at the potential selling price of the scales .... someone that buys a Delica or Endura might be prepared to pay in excess of the original price of the knife (probably 150% of the original cost based on the scales in the photo above) for a set of "dressed up" scales ... someone buying a Tenacious will be less happy to spend 3 times the price of the knife on a new set of scales - In my opinion, 8Cr13MoV in sexy scales is still a $30 knife irrespective of what the scales cost.
