Best sharpening stone to pack in?

For normal woods runs I just use the back of my leather belt as a strop for emergency touch ups.
I don't abuse my edges, so it works ok. When hunting I take a couple of grits med & fine (or fine and extra fine) of diamond hones as I hope the blades will be well employed before the trip is over (and they edges may need a little extra care). I normally touch up the edges the night before I leave home and usually don't have to mess around with them in the field.
Hope it helps.
Enjoy!

Exactly my opinion as well. I carry an extra fine gatco pocket diamond hone for rare sharpening. Most times the leather belt strop is just fine. A good steel blade will hold an edge well into a heavy use scenario requiring little touching up. Busse blade steels case in point.
