I need the heavy duty stuff that I can unbraid if needed, but will handle heavy loads - Where's the best Site to find the good stuff at low cost?

Thanks a bunch.

I've plugged this site enough that the mods will probably charge me an advertising fee, but I really like www.campingsurvival.com .

They've always had good selection, quick shipping, nice folks. Lots of colors/lengths of paracord, too.

(PS - I promise, I'm not affiliated with that site! :p)

Ebay is where I get all of my US issue 550 paracord. I usually get 1200-1400' for like $50.00 shipped.

i just got a bunch from ebay, genuine issue off of parachutes in excellent condition only $6 for 360+ft, came in 35-45 ft bundles, the guy had like 30 auctions you could get much as you want.

Cheaperthandirt often has good deals on used paracord,The last I bought was from cabela's,good price it did have the inner strands but not the filler.

Hey Guys..

texastony...

Is the paracord from Basspro the real deal ??
I haven't had any luck finding real 5-7 strand parachute cord there...

For those of you that don't know,, here are some examples of different types of cord that I had kicking around...

paracord1.jpg

Samples 1-2 is the wrong type of cord. What gives it away is the fuzzy strands..

Samples 3-4-5-6 are real paracord although of different grades.

Samples 7-8 are cargo chute cords, and although they don't have inner strands they are Excellent quality and very strong.

Here is a close up of the fuzzy strands in the cheapo paracord...

Hope that helps..

the 100ft package i picked up was 5-7 strand.... like i mentioned $4.99+tx for 100ft od green,i almost pick up two packages, on my next trip i will for sure...later Tony PS not sure if it is on-line but it was in-house at Bass pro shop and in there big catalog...great buy.

If all you are wanting is strong, braided synthetic cord then I'd consider what might be available from a commercial fishing supply store. I live in a fishing center and a variety of synthetic cords and twines are available at 'bulk' prices for things like netmaking etc. I would typically pay less than NZ$20 for a roll of good cord that might be 200 or 300 yards long or more.

I too buy the GI Surplus Paracord on Ebay. Also, I have bought 550 cord from Brigade Quartermasters, that's good stuff as well.
