We have transitioned to a new house and I finally have a small one car garage to set up my workshop in. We park our daily drivers outside year round so my plan was to use the entire garage as a workshop for my various hobbies (of which knife making is becoming a bigger and bigger portion). Unfortunately, the offsite storage I had for an old car I own is going away and I now need to accommodate it in the garage. While this will cramp my work space I think it is doable as the car is large for a single car (15 wide by 25 deep) and the car is small (1959 Triumph TR3). I am, however, very worried about dust.
I am in the process of building a small shed (10x20) to use for firewood storage (10x10) and a garden shed (10x10) so I can keep lawnmowers, kids bike, gardening tools, etc. out of the garage. I was thinking this morning about the option of moving all of the dirty aspects of knife making to a small grinding room in the shed. Right now all I have is my forge, anvil, drill press, and belt grinder but I am not sure what else I may acquire in the future. How small a space do you think would be reasonable size for a small dirty room? For those of you that separate your dirty work, what goes in there versus your clean area. I will still be doing clean work in the garage.
Thanks for the help.
