Best slip joint

The Spyderco Bob T Slipit is perfect. It has a strong (nonlocking) lockup (due to a ball-detant system instead of a traditional slipjoint mechanism), zero bladeplay, perfect ergonomics, great lightweight carbon fiber handle, and s30v steel.

If you want something less pricey, the Spyderco UKPK lightweight models are also extremely high quality and give you most of the benefits of a locking folder like the Caly 3 in a slipjoint knife.

If you want traditional, I can't really help you there. The closest thing to traditional I have is a Kiwi 3 with stag inserts.

I have to agree 100% with cnas122.
Custom - Tony Bose.
Production - Case Bose annual collaborations.
There are other great choices, but the above are the best.
I own multiple knives from GEC, Queen, SAK, Canal Street, Case (regular production and annual collabs) etc as well as more customs than a sane person should have so I am not out on a limb coming to the above conclusion.

In the production slipjoint arena, I agree that the annual Case/Bose collaborations are at the top of the heap by a large margin, but GEC keeps getting better and the gap between a few of their nicer patterns and the collaboration knives is getting smaller, especially when you consider that the GECs are less than half the price. If you prefer 1095 with an excellent heat treatment to 154 CM, GEC can't be beat, IMO.

Fortunately, there are still a lot of decent slip-joint manufacturers and many outstanding custom cutlers. The 'best' one is the one which pleases you the most:D

I like: Böker, CASE, Great Eastern Cutlery, Queen Cutlery, Rough Rider. Each of them are 'best' at something:thumbup:

Do you plan on EDC'ing the soup? Will it be for "hard use"? If so, I'd recommend Campbells Chunky. If it's for light around the house/office use then you can go with the Original Condensed (Chikin & Starz). ;)

Now that was pretty damn funny :D

thanks!
