Best snake dispatching knife

Fortunately I don't have that problem in the UK as our only venomous snake (the Adder) is very "shy" and in the most cases any bite isnt too serious. But perhaps if its your land get a King Snake or have a couple of pet mongooses😏

Seriously though I'd not want to hurt them as I've owned spiders and snakes and would prefer a snake stick/grabber or something as suggested with a long reach if you absolutely had to dispatch one.

If you are out and think you might encounter one keep something soaked with ammonia as they hate it and will bugger right off!

Fortunately I haven’t had to deal with snakes yet.
From the suggestions given so far I like the shovel and rake ones the best.
what do you all think about the Cold Steel Sjambok or the Cold Steel Bushman fixed onto the end of a 4-5 foot stick for fast moving yet long enough option.

Bunch of scaredy cats. You don’t need to dispatch snakes, they are more peaceful than humans. If you just need to be aware of your surroundings and wear boots :)

You shouldn’t base your interactions with serpents on the Old Testament. Rattlers are so dangerous, people handle them in church as part of a religious ceremony. My good bud as a child was a snake lover and kept snakes; we weren’t afraid and didn’t get bit. The biggest problem was raising mice to feed ‘em :) His hawks were cooler though.

I've had two big healthy dogs very nearly die from copperhead strikes .

And ...just so dang hard to get 'em to wear their snake boots ! 😒
So you going to kill all the copperheads where you go with your dogs? Good luck with that. Do you kill bear and puma where you take them, they like dog more than snakes. What about coyotes, they like dog, but then many kill them as indiscriminately as snakes.

Poceh, when I had a 3yo she loved her red boots and I was the one who was aware. You think you can kill them all?

Nope , just the aggressive ones near the house and barns, where the dogs hang out and try to protect .

After you, or someone you love, is seriously harmed , you are welcome to come back and lecture me ! 🤨

I only killed one snake in my life. I was 17 years old walking along the train tracks & the sucker blended in so well I must've stepped on him or close to him. It hurt like hell when he bit me, I got so mad I was thinking "If you're poisonous you're gonna die too!" I proceeded to throw rocks at him til he was dead. Then I took him home to my mom & we went to the hospital. Turns out it was a harmless milk snake. I felt bad for killing him after that. Snakes are good critters mostly.

In the 1990sa, I worked at a VA hospital doing diagnostic imaging with isotopes ("Nuc-Med"). At that time, most of our patients were from the WW-II and Korean War eras. One patient told me he had been a gunnery instructor on a Cruser "cursing" up and down the west coast from San Diego to Acapulco . . .and back, training new sailors how to shoot the five inch guns, He did that the whole war he said and was a little embarrassed to say it. He came out of the war with significant hearing loss, but refused VA treatment because he was " . . .not really injured".

Now he was in with other, age-related issues had agreed to let the VA get him set up with hearing aids. . . . .because he had been out dove hunting and got bitten by a Rattle Snake. The hunters walking along ten yards on either side of him both heard the Rattler . . .but he did not. While in the ER, his buddies convinced him to at last get help.

No, we can't kill them all and I never wanted to do it. Just those that at the moment happen to be the one we did not see and it is too late to avoid.
Talking about poisonous creatures, other snakes never bothered me, took some out of the house through the years.
It's really hard to make my grand daughter to put some boots and run around the grass here in FL...
Most neighborhood kids are playing in the ditches all the time and are used to watch for snakes and avoid the dangerous kind.
I'm only talking about the one that sneaks in the cage or in immediate proximity to the house, and are aggressive, I hate to kill snakes in general.
It is a gray topic, there is no binary answer to the issue with the snakes, if I can see it early enough, of course I'll either push it away or avoid it.
Problem is now I'm moving slow due to some surgeries and won't be able to react adequately. In this case she's gone, I can't have any complications with snake bites and such,
for myself, my grand daughter or my three really old dogs...
If this will make you feel better, I manage to keep the black mexican king snake that lives in the bush, alive for over 15years now. Beautiful, big creature.

Yes they do.

Man, I sure wish we had a church like this to go to....I would go every single Sunday just for the entertainment factor alone. I'd be making significant collection plate contributions $$$ on those special days when these peaceful church going snakes decide to have fun & play!

I don't know what's funnier....these poisonous snakes biting their handler's, or the type of "Deliverance"movie type character's who attend these churches. And then there's the awesome music......
What I found so fascinating & impressive, was watching @ 1:35 as Big Cody carried the Pastor out to the car after he got nailed on the side of the head- Now that's, Country strong! LMFAO!

And then there was this guy (Pastor).....who wasn't quite as lucky...

RIP Jamie Coots.... His Tombstone should read:
He used his "9 Lives" and it was that damn 10th 1 that finally got him"

Edit to add: @ 1:18 into the video (the middle finger bite)
At least Coots wife still has a piece of him she can carry around.....that damn stinkin middle finger! LOL!

Just saw this AP article this morning.

There is usually a "Crocodile Dundee" type in every crowd that thinks they know everything about venomous snakes but, I have never encountered any of the religious wackos. I have no problem with them though, seems like the snakes were well cared for in the above videos.

I did see a nature nazi, at one with nature type get bit by a sidewinder once after he was told not to fool with the snake. He was fired after he was released from the hospital with a $60K bill.

My biggest issue is running them over with my motorbike. Otherwise they generally get out of the way.

Our snakes vary from small and harmless to poisonous to just massive.

The big ones bleed everywhere if you kill them. Which is an issue if it is inside.

But we also have snake catching services.

Naginata?
5 foot (blade) claymore sword?
Bayonet on a Mossberg 590? (admittedly I would be more likely to use one of the ten (with one in the tube) 0000 buckshot shells initially loaded innit than the bayonet ... eliminate the enemy at a distance ... and, yes ... I would load another asap, in case its buddies and/or kin wanted revenge. )

I loathe all legless reptiles. To accuse me of having a phobia about those gods cursed things is an understatement.
