best spyderco fixed blade for edc

I just bought a Street Beat last week and love it. The ergonomics are amazing, even for my XL hand. The light weight version is in your price range.

That's an interesting observation "Kels73">> because I've noticed myself that knife handles designed by Fred Perrin and Sal Glesser are so well designed that they almost perfectly fit a wide range of hand sizes. The handles on the original Perrin fixed blade which was the first one Spyderco did with Fred Perrin and the handles on the TEMPERANCE 1 and TEMPERANCE 2 models ( Sal Glesser designs) are just unbelievable how they also fit many hands so comfortably.

I have an average sized hand for a man and both the STREETBEAT and TEMP 1 literally fit me perfect. I seriously doubt if a custom knife maker could do better IMO.

^^I agree. I hesitated on the Street Beat for quite a while because I was concerned about the small handle. I'm glad I finally took a chance. I am truly blown away by the ergonomics of this knife. It's a very intelligent, well-thought-out knife design.

I'd recommend the 5" Perrin bowie. Also a big fan of the pygmy warrior, but it's probably not as good a general utility blade as the Perrin.

Just a follow up! I ended up getting a leaf point enuff and it arrived today. Great feeling knife and crazy sharp. Im carrying it IWB at 4 oclock. Really happy and thanks for everyones input.

As Reject showed, my choice is the Swick (in wharncliffe). I find it discrete and very functional.

I wish we could get a sprint run on the Street Beat with an upgrade over VG-10. I've wanted one on and off for years but wasn't super comfortable paying the price of the micarta Street Beat for VG-10, especially these days. I'd pay more for one in S35VN or an M390-type steel, though.

^^A sprint run would definitely be nice. I feel like I got my money's worth though. The Street Beat is a really sweet knife.

If they do a Swick in one of the Supersteels like 110V I would be all over it in a nanosecond. And for the Brother who mentioned the MORAN model that would be my second pick just under the TEMPERANCE 1 model. I've often wondered and I've been extremely baffled why they never offered that MORAN model in Spyderedge. If they would offer a Moran with teeth I would slow up on my exhaustive search for another TEmP 1 in SE.

Also I would just love to test drive a SWICK in Spyderedge. And they could use some old 440V bar stock to do it with>> or better yet I would love a Spyderedged Swick model in XHP.

i find most sheaths annoying to EDC. ive got a spyderco mule and bolteron sheath but i prefer the Bradford Guardian 3 in m390 or 3v to EDC. the sheath is amazing to say the least in comparison. (not my picture http://i.imgur.com/dTFg7VB.jpg )

How do you wear your Guardian 3 sheath? I wear it at like 10:00 to 10:30 on my waist. It's comfortable standing but when I sit it kinda pokes into my stomach.

just like the picture. tho i prefer to carry a folder on most days, so i havent tried to many other ways.

That is exactly how I wear mine. I find that in that position it sortnof pinches between the top of my thigh and my stomach. Also the butt of the handle sticking forward like that prints very badly. Sadly this means the knife is only really appropiate for like an outdoor hike or something.

no issues here. tho i can see what your saying. the kydex/boltaron sheaths just are ginormous in comparison.

Have not tried any Spyderco fixed blade but just going with the looking, Phil Wilson Southfork, Mule team, and Rock Salt appear most interesting to me. I would buy one if the Southfork is a bit larger (longer and wider).

I like Mules for EDC. An LC200-N Mule would make a good edc fixed blade. Think they're still available.
