Now I know that this answer is going to get some replies like "I never said that" or "But this one is different" . But here goes....

While I myself feel that the Military is a great knife ,it is still a liner-lock.There are MANY people that have said "I don't like liner-locks" or "I don't trust liner-locks" or "I'll never buy a liner-lock". I just wonder if any of these people have purchased a Military and say "But this ones different".
Now if the Military had a type of rolling lock on it I would choose it hands down for my favorite.
I really couldn't say which is my favorite as there are many excellent ones.
Like others have stated, the Delica or Endura give you the most bang for the buck.

Hey Sal,
How about making that Military with a rolling lock that I dream about.

Jailhack, I too was not a linerlock fan, but... the Military will take well over 500 lbs of force on the lock according to the "Destroyer" at Spyderco. I am not too worried. A Rolling lock would be sweet, but until then...

Without a doubt my favorite is my Carbon Fiber Walker! It just looks so cool and I dig that pouch it came in!

Speaking as an owner of the original Terzuola Clipits and a 2 Police models as well as my Military, the nod just has to go to the Military.

Of course, if it were on a "bang-for-buck" basis, the vote would have to go to the Endura98.

Now you know what my favorite is...
1. Military plain edge 440V
2. Military serrated edge 440V
3. Wegner Jr. plain edge
4. Endura 98 plain edge

Military onlyfor it's blade style and the CPM-440V steel it supports followed by a real close2nd with the full size Wegner. Wegner is the strongest and toughest built Spyderco I have ever experienced, and I do have most of the Spydies out there or have used them before.

At this point if I had to choose between the Military and the Wegner, I think I would have one heck of a hard time deciding!

Red mag,
Well you got me on that one! I called Spyderco and talked to Danelle about the new style Military with the ATS34 blade and she looked through her notes and couldnt find anything. She said I might want to ask Sal about these. It has all the new features...3 screw clip, Concave tang ramp, Torx screws (from both sides), etc,etc... The only difference is the blade is marked ATS-34 and it has the grooves on the finger choil.
??? Maybe these were the proto's to the 440?? Sal??

From: Ivan 5-18-99 928PM EDT I also have the new type Military with all the new features and with the ATS-34 Steel; bought it at the last big Harrisburg P.A. Gun Show for $100.00 from a dealer. It is definetly a new model. Thanks Ivan

Best value ratio?? That knocks the Military out of the list. Sorry guys, but I'll have to say the Endura. $40.00 or so and a useful size.

Hi Keith!
I found the answer. In the thread "how many 2nd generation militarys in ATS-34?" the chief-engineer of spyderco (Vince) guessed that about 3000 were made with an ATS-34 blade.

I hope it's the new "Blue Native".
