Best spyderco for its price?

Endura. I think the Native and Delica are good choices also, but I think you get a much more useful sized blade in the Endura for only a few dollars more.

If I didn't go stateside for my Wally World Native, my vote would have been either Delica/Endura. I don't use my Native near as much as my Delica(s), but at that $39 US price point, it's tough to beat:)

I can't think of any competitors to the Military or Manix that offer the same level of fit, finish, materials, and performance for close to the same price.

The Manix and Military are excellent knives, but I'm still partial to the Benchmade 710 in that price range (best $106 I've ever spend). Now the mini Manix... there's a nice knife (and on my "must have soon" list after playing with one yesterday).

But Spyderco is one of the better companies when it comes to offering the best possible materials at the most affordable price. I love my Native and it was a steal at under $40. But $46 for my Endura was money very very well spent.

Well see though, my SS Cricket should be here tomorrow :D.

Now that I've got it - WAVED ENDURA and Native.

The waved Endura shares the wave feature with the very expensive Emerson Knives which come in 154 CM which is in some peoples opinion not as good as VG-10(It's Close Though). Waved Endura = $50 very well spent!! The Native's Ergos are great for a $40 S30V knife (A little blade play). I think I'm now going to buy a waved Delica and a 80mm Manix next.

I've got to go with the delica. Tough knife, and the one spyderco I keep going back to for occasional partnering with one of my SAKs.

I have to say that Spyderco has the most consistent bang per buck across their range. The Delica/Endura is probably the best deal, but only marginally better than the Native. If we're including the Byrd knives, they absolutely blow everything else in their price range out of the water. But they won't do everything the real Spydies will, so you really want to have at least one of the mid-range knives. And who can resist the Manix? I agree with the comments about the Salt and its ilk too. I don't spend much time in saltwater, but I'm still going to end up with some.

My vote is for the $40 Native from Walmart, great ergonomics and a CPMS30V blade for that price is a steal. The Native was my very first Spyderco but after using it for a week or so I ordered the full size Manix (another great knife).

another vote for the Native -- I thought a Gerber Gator in 154cm was the best folder you could get for under $40, until i got a Native...

I just bought a D'Allara (C82SBK), and I am convinced for the price......this is the best value. Like earlier posters stated, the heft of this knife is amazing. Dual liners, VG-10. I can't wait to work this beast. By the way, they regularly go for $40-$45 dollars on auction sites. I got lucky.......$36.00 shipped!!!

Take care, Mike Arnold

For me the delica is more useful. I will use a smaller, more EDC-able knife more since that will be in my pocket more often.
I'm getting a waved delica. Yay delica wave!

The d`allara drop point is unquestionably the best deal at Spyderco. Here's way. It's 55 bucks, has beefy dual full steel liners, a great ball bearing lock, a VG10 blade, one of the best actions out there, some of the grippiest FRN available...
It's the budget manix.

I hadn't realized that it was that price -- I had imagined it was more. You're right, for $55, those features make it hard to beat. I love the BBLock. (The only thing I don't like is the shape of the bolster area when closed -- that point sticks out too far.)

I'm not a bandwagon jumper - I was actually going to say D'Allara drop point. I am truly amazed at how huge and solid of a knife I got for $40. Although I got a little lucky too I guess.

The top three value blades, IMHO, are...

the "wally world" Native, as has been posted above $40 for an S30V blade is an unbeatable value....

I'm going to go against the grain with the Delica/Endura twins, and reccomend something very similar, the Pacific Salt and Salt 1, very similar blade shapes and ergos as the E3/D3, but with the added advantage of *total* immunity to rust and corrosion, thanks to their H-1 steel blades...

Yep, I think the E3 Endura and Pacific Salt are the same knife with a slightly different blade shape and steel type. The handles and clips are exactly the same. The length and weight are almost identical. If corrosion resistance is important, go with the Pacific Salt.

The bolster and scales Kiwi. Street price under $100, fit and finish comparable to that of knives costing twice that and more. Plus the option of paying a small premium for a fancier scaled version from Santa Fe Stoneworks or A.G. Russell. The all stainless version, at around $50, is no slouch in the f&f department either.

The VG-10 Calypso Jr., a a street price of about $40 was also a heck of a knife for the money. It did not earn nicknames like "pocket scalpel" and "pocket laser" for nothing.

I bought the Wal-Mart native then got a great deal on a Delica 4 on eBay ($28 shipped). Thinking about taking the Native back. Also, bought a Dodo from Sierra (57 shipped) and looking for a great deal on a Pollywog and a Salt I. I've carried a knife since I was 5 years old ... just now caught the Spyder disease.

You guys are killing me! Everytime I read a message here, I find there's another SpyderCo knife I just gotta have!!!!

Trying to get one of the new Military's on eBay .... would 140 be a reasonable price? How high should I go (the BIN is 165)?

Several candidates come to mind....

Endura, Delica, Native, Salt 1, D'Allaras and the spanner in the works, the Salsa. The latter is a little hard to find now, but with the compression lock, compact size, light weight and great ergos on the handle I just had to throw it in :)

But if I had to pick one, it would have to be the Native.... CPM-S30V, made in Golden, CO and available at a very good price. This is the best bang for your buck.

I loved my Native. I have other knives now- lost my Native- but each time I've gone by a Wal-Mart in the last year, I've checked to see if they had any Natives. Each time, either the store didn't carry them, or was sold out. :(
