Best Spyderco for military

This One.

I’ll probably catch crap for this, but the serrations make short work of rope, paracord, camo net, etc, and don’t need much maintenance. The Endura is long enough to make use of both edge types. It’s saber ground so a bit more robust. It’s not overly expensive, in case of loss. A little over 3.5 oz.

Perfect field knife, IMO.

Yeah had a zt 0630 and the wave really got in the way when trying to hook it on to my plate carrier.

I actually just jumped on a military s90v cf ti that popped up on the sale thread. When I saw the frame lock I couldn't help myself. I would take a frame lock over a liner lock any day. Not sure if is actually more secure but it makes me feel better if jabbing into something that it won't close on my fingers
That’s a really nice knife  What kind of sharpening system will you have with you?

For the field I just use a fine diamond hone and free hand. At home I use a kme system

Army 11b with 82nd abn

If you're going to jump with it on you're body get an FRN Spyderco..I'd get a Stretch

If you're going to jump with it in your ruck which is what I'd do get a Shaman but if it's in your ruck I'd still get an AFO since it's in the supply system and if it breaks find a supply guy an replace it. In the end Id not jump with anything unnecessary in my pocket and I'd stick with the supply system, you really aren't going to find a better knife than the AFO. Secondly you aren't going to go any place that would render the AFO unusable the wars you'll be deployed to have been going on long enough to be considered garrison work, they were gentrified 10-15 years ago by your predecessors.

If you were 173rd The answer would be different but as a 10p from Bragg its a meh thing

I found that Spyderco offers excellent discounts and services for military so I am looking at them now.
Really? I'm not aware of any benefits available for the military. If it was me I would take a SAK classic, standard Leatherman, and an orange FRN Delica.

I was a paratrooper with the 3/509th, and carried a Protech TR3 and a leatherman wave. Out of the Spyderco options, I like the para 2. Being light weight is nice. I don’t like how thin the tip gets for hard use. But let’s get real, it cuts MRE’s and 550 cord.

Spyderco OpFocus program. I just learned about it a few weeks ago. I haven’t used it, but the fact it’s offered has given me a whole new level of respect for the Glesser’s.

I’ve used the opfocus program. I’m greatly appreciative of Spyderco for making this available.
It’s one of the many things that Spyderco does that has helped develop its culture of loyalty among their customers.

Spydies are all good, but check out Cold Steel: American Lawman, Recon 1* (*pretty big tho'). Solid construction, Tri-Ad lock, CTS-XHP steel, G-10 grips, very ergonomic.

Haha. Yep it will cut MREs and 550 which is mainly what they are used for lol. I'm with 1-505th

If you like auto, Gerber makes a great one for active-duty. It fits very nicely in gloved hands, built like a tank, has a lock for the blade, and is cost efficient. Gerber also makes a military multi-tool for active duty and is cost efficient as well. Gerbet offers discounts for active-duty or reserves.

The PM2 or Military Spyderco are too thinly ground to be used hard. Last thing you want is equipment failure in the field. Outside of a gun or medical equipment, the multi-tool is my used tool. YMMV.

I will say my multi tool is used pretty regularly in the field. I won't ever spend my own money on anything with the Gerber name on it though. I have broken a couple Gerber multi tools just taking on and off my bfa. Every Gerber knife they have given me has had poor edge retention and is basically useless to me after about an hour in the field

erhodes erhodes Its not Gerber’s normal line. I wouldn’t use their import stuff and much less in action. I used the auto like a fixed and it held up really well. It had to be over a decade ago. There is a difference in Gerber’s line of tools.

I wouldn’t use Gerber in normal daily activities. I have far nicer and more expensive tools, but that doesn’t mean they’re that much better.

The PM2 or Military is a horrible choice and has the same steel as most - S30V. You can get an upgraded steel, but that won’t help that thin grind and edge.

I used a ZT300 for a long time and it never let me down. Neither did that auto Gerber...

All the best and be safe.

I must have gotten a fluke because my Gerber multi tool (issued in 1990) is still going strong and I use it almost every day!! I do need a new carry pouch though.

The OpFocus program is very generous of Spyderco to offer and, as a servicemember, I alway greatly appreciate any special discounts. That being said, anyone that's using the OpFocus program (or any of the other mil discount sites) should check the online retailers before making a purchase. Spyderco's discount (and many others) is determined from the MSRP which is typically significantly higher than the normal selling price. Sometimes, even with the military discount subtracted from the MSRP, you may end up paying more than street price.

I’m torn between the Millie and Pm2 and the Manix 2 kw sprint run .
I love them all and think you can’t go wrong with any of the above IMO and experience with them .

Really just a personal preference. I guess I'm about to find out how much I like it though lol
I use to be a tip up carry snob lol now I like it either way especially after sporting my Millie’s around
Both carry options have there advantages and disadvantages putting the “cool factor “ a side. Also if your a lefty or righty and depending on which knife makes a difference .

I joined a year or two ago, and completely forgot about it. This should be the best prices available if you make a purchase of over $150, or $300 MSRP (free shipping). Otherwise, the shipping costs ($18+) cancel out the savings over regular reputable online dealers. I may purchase a few expensive folders that I have been wanting.
