There are a lot of good names but for some reason the "Civilian" has something to it. It is cool because no other knife that I have ever heard of has this name and it is not trying to be tatical. It sounds CIA to me, which makes it secretive and cool.

I also like the name "Harpy" it just fits the knife. The "Spyderhawk" is a great name also because it blends the Spyderco name into the name.

I am not a hugh fan of the hawkbills and I don't own any at the moment although I did have a Matriarch and a few Harpys. For some reason the hawkbills have the coolest sounding names, I guess.

The name that I like best is probably "The Native".

I can't explain why.
The Navigator is a close second, though.

Allen.

There are a lot of really good ones. I'm a bit of a connoisseur of blade names, and I've gotten more than a little bit of crap from other makers who insist on boring names like "skinner #4."
A lot of good ones have been mentioned already: navigator, kumo and calypso are alll way up there.
Some of my other personal favorites are: renegade, chinook, spur, pegasus, and ronin.
Incidently, Chinook is a name that I gave to one of my knives way back in the day. Great minds think alike.

Come on guys, it has to be the Calypso. If I remember correctly John Denver even wrote a song about it. I think it went something like this, ahem....

To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean,
to ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and living,
in search of the answers of questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing,
part of beginning to understand,

Aye Calypso the places you've been to,
the things that you've shown us,
the stories you tell
Aye Calypso, I sing to your spirit,
the men who have served you so long and so well

Hi dee ay-ee ooo doo-dle oh
oo do do do do do doo-dle ay yee
doo-dle ay ee

Like the dolphin who guides you, you bring us beside you
To light up the darkness and show us the way
For though we are strangers in your silent world
To live on the land we must learn from the sea
To be true as the tide and free as a wind swell
Joyful and loving in letting it be

Aye Calypso the places you've been to,
the things that you've shown us,
the stories you tell
Aye Calypso, I sing to your spirit,
the men who have served you so long and so well

Hi dee ay-ee ooo doo-dle oh
oo do do do do do doo-dle ay yee
doo-dle ay ee

he dee Ay-ee
Hi dee oh ooo
hi dee ayee
hi dee oh ooo

....or something like that.

Uhhh - I guess there are a lot of Spyderco names with "sense" in it, e.g.:

A.T.R. - Captain - Delica - Dodo - Dyad - Endura - Kiwi - Lil'Temperance - Meerkat - Worker

It's weird...when I show folks the dodo, before they ever hear the name (and they don't know much about knives) they say--hey, that looks like a dodo!

I had no idea that the birds were so recognizeable...I'll bet half of them couldn't tell the difference between a blue jay and a pelican. But the one bird they most definitely won't ever see, everyone knows...

Khalsa. "Pure". Name given to certain members of the Sikh faith. First time I ever learned anything from a knife name......
