Wow, finally a thread about Spyderco names! Good one!
I have definitely sometimes wondered why on earth certain Spyderco knives had the names they were given. (Temperance comes to mind, for sure.)
I like:
- Paramilitary (sounds very militia-like, and I ask, sir, who are the militia? They are the people themselves!)
- Navigator (since every pilot either is his own navigator or has his own navigator)
- CoPilot (since the knife sits "right seat" for me)
- Probe (forgot about that one, didn'tcha?!)
- Dodo (sonofagun, that thing really
does resemble the bird's head. And like the bird, it never really got off the ground

Shoulda had a more conventional blade, IMO.)
It's a good thing I find myself able to divorce the name of a thing (knife, or car, or airplane, etc.) from the thing itself, because many many times, the namers of a thing come up with a name that I think is just frickin'
goofy!
I don't like names like "Adventura" or "Delica" or "Endura" because I just don't care for that "a" at the end. Even my car, which I love, is called "Impreza," which I think is a goofy name for a car -- but fortunately for me I can just like the
car itself.
