Best Spyderco knife name yet?

Dodo is the greatest Spyderco name ever!
Whoa, I'm quoting myself:D

Starmate sounds neat, as does Paramilitary, Spyderhawk, Native, A.T.R., and Temperance:D

Oh, forgot about the YOJIMBO!

What about worst name? I'd say Calypso Jr.(love the knife been my EDC for a month now, but the name is kinda corny)

I gotta go with DragonFly for personal reasons.

Its probably the most fitting name with the slender body and the big ol' head/eye.

While canoeing the Huron River with my wife we were swarmed with dragon fly's. My wife was under the impression that they were dangerous so I showed her that they're harmless by letting a dragon fly land on my hand. A gorgeous blue one.

After that she had forgotten about her fear of that particular bug and took an honest liking to 'em.

She now has dragon fly ear rings, neclaces, shower curtain rings and a Spyderco to boot.

if it were just me I'd have to say the Chinook. Although I'm not sure if its named after the Helicopter, the fish, the Native American tribe, or the RV...:D

It's not really my favorite knife, but I do like the name "Salsa". Isn't there a Seinfeld episode where he talks about how fun it is just to say "Salsa!!!"?

"Endura" has a nice connotation to it also. Ha I don't even own one. I guess I'm all about the knife, not the name.

I also like the name "Urban". The story about the "Urban Wind" (AKA big city fart) is funny tho. I'll definately have to get this one when it comes out.

I have to go with Dodo. It is very fitting, for better or for worse. My girlfriend asked me if the Lil' Temperance versions were known as the Leaf and the Rhino. If it was officially the Rhino, I'd have to say my Lil' T.:D

Bring back the Dodo!

I have to say that my fave names are:
-Toad
-Mouse
-Pegasus- one of my first, if not my first Spyderco
-Paramilitary
-Executive- sounds classy
-Spur- sounds tough
-Co-Pilot
--edited to add the Civilian and Matriarch

DYAD, DYAD is not only the best and most unusual name but it is also their best knife too. But if I wanted a flashy name I would go with YOJIMBO.

Yojimbo (bodyguard) would be my choice, also one of their greatest knives, along with the Police model.

I've never understood why they would name a knife "Delica". Does anyone disagree that the closest natural association with a real word is "delicate"? It's one of my favorite knives of all time, but I wonder what the thought process was there. Maybe it was originally going to be marketed to women or something.

Wow, finally a thread about Spyderco names! Good one!

I have definitely sometimes wondered why on earth certain Spyderco knives had the names they were given. (Temperance comes to mind, for sure.)

I like:

- Paramilitary (sounds very militia-like, and I ask, sir, who are the militia? They are the people themselves!)
- Navigator (since every pilot either is his own navigator or has his own navigator)
- CoPilot (since the knife sits "right seat" for me)
- Probe (forgot about that one, didn'tcha?!)
- Dodo (sonofagun, that thing really does resemble the bird's head. And like the bird, it never really got off the ground  Shoulda had a more conventional blade, IMO.)

It's a good thing I find myself able to divorce the name of a thing (knife, or car, or airplane, etc.) from the thing itself, because many many times, the namers of a thing come up with a name that I think is just frickin' goofy!

I don't like names like "Adventura" or "Delica" or "Endura" because I just don't care for that "a" at the end. Even my car, which I love, is called "Impreza," which I think is a goofy name for a car -- but fortunately for me I can just like the car itself. :)
