I'm looking for my first Spyderco. :D
What will be the best one for the least $??

Try the Tenacious. It's my favorite starting Spyderco. That being said, you really should consider spending a little more and going for one of their best ones. I got started on Spyderco within the last year, and I now own 5...

Manix-2 is my personal favorite Spyderco, Military or Paramilitary are popular if you want a BIG knife, Endura and Delica are very popular as well. I doubt you'd regret getting any of those.

You can get a FFG Endura or Delica for under $60, those are about as classic Spyderco as you can get. VG10 is significantly better steel than the Chinese stuff in the Tenacious. If you wanted it for fishing/boating, the Salt 1 and Pacific Salt are around the same price/dimensions as the Delica and Endura.

New Blue Endura 4 FFG arrived a few days ago.
Best value IMO (Variety of colors available too) (or go with the smaller Delica)

Delica 4... Once you buy one you are going to want another - I suggest a Caly 3.5 when you decide to upgrade.

Like the manix 2, but what about the 154CM blade? Will it hold a good edge?

i love my manix 2, another great knife for the price is the Native, it feels right at home in your hand.

i usally EDC a black blade manix 2 and black serrated native

I'll just go ahead and save you time and money in the long run, get a Paramilitary 2. Sure it's a little higher than your price range but it's currently one of the better production folders out there.

I've used 154CM in my Leatherman Charge AL and it's held up quite well, good edge retention and it hasn't rusted yet (though I don't use it really hard). For more info on steels, I'd look at Joe Talmadge's Steel FAQ...http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/368828-Steel-FAQ.

I would imagine that Spyderco's rendition of 154CM is even better (though I haven't used the Manix2 to say for sure). However, it's worth mentioning that the Manix2 is a stout, heavy knife for what it is. 5 ounces for a 3-3/8 inch knife is too heavy in my eyes, though I don't know what you intended use for the knife is. If this is for backpacking or camping, I'd say it's perfect. For urban daily carry, you can go lighter and not lose capability.

You can get a FFG Endura or Delica for under $60, those are about as classic Spyderco as you can get. VG10 is significantly better steel than the Chinese stuff in the Tenacious. Definitely agree with Handwrecker; in my mind, the Delica and Endura (and their rustproof H1 cousins the Salt 1 and Pacific Salt) pretty much exemplify everything that is Spyderco. If this is for urban/suburban-type daily carry, I'd go with a Delica (or Endura, if you can justify carrying that big of a blade). The Stretch is another great design that fits nicely between the Delica and Endura sizewise.

Sure will, comes at least shaving sharp; in the case of mine, hair popping sharp. Strongly recommend a sharpmaker also if you don't have one already. Super easy to use, and helps keep a nice sharp edge on the Manix or other knives. Very easy to resharpen, heat treat is excellent, so edge retention is very good (154CM is one of the better stainless steels available), although you can still get the occasional sprint run in full flat ground S30V (that's going to cost you more though).

That ball-bearing lock is really nice, and it opens oh so smooth. Maybe not as good in really dirty environments, but makes a fantastic EDC knife.

Manix 2 is very sweet, if a little heavy. I've seen it as low as $70.

You can get a brand new Manix 2 for 73$ from Supreme Solutions off E-bay. I just bought one and it is a mighty fine knife. It is a little on the big and heavy side but I like that. Easily my favorite knife that I own. Obvious super high quality and the blade came razor sharp. This is my first experience with 154cm and I am really impressed with this steel, excellent IMO...
