Best Spyderco

Waved Endura. The list of Spyderco knives I have owned and tried is looooong and the one I keep coming back to the good ole Endura. All Enduras have their merits, but, the E4 wave just jumps out at me as being the clear winner every time.

I really like the Caly 3, either in VG10 or ZDP 189. Great ergonomics, and it disappears in your pocket.

IMHO for EDC the best are Caly3 or 75mm Persian.
You can get them on the auction for $75 - 85.

Lot of good ones. The trick is finding the one with the ergos that feels right in your hand.

+1 Check out the Endura, Pacific Salt, Stretch, and the Manix2.

You might look out for a used Military on the exchange.

I agree with the guys about the ZDP Endura. I've yet to own one but I don't see how you could go wrong with an Endura with a ZDP-189 blade.

The main Spyder I've been EDCing for over a year now is a Golden Colorado made 440V, SE Native. It has about 3/4 of an inch of plain edge on the end and the serration part is a beast for everyday chores. Not to mention you can usually get a used one at a very decent price.

I switched to using a Native because of some extremely rough work I had been doing and I wanted a blade that could take extreme abuse and wouldn't break the bank if it got destroyed or stolen. My opinion of the Native has escalated considerably in the past year as a result. But I do like the Colorado USA made Native the best>> and 440V is my favorite blade steel for that knife.

Also I carry an accompanying Spyderco Hawkbill for back up. I carry a Harpy model, ATS-55, SE. Those 2 Spyders let me rule the workplace

The Manix 2. G10 handles,154 CM blade. CBBL. Its smooth as ant benchmade Axis lock. The tolerences are as good as many custom folders. This folder can be gotten for $70 to $80. Its sturdy and has many grip options cause of the choil.

pretty much any of them with around a 3" blade or so, plain edge, will work admirably. I really am a fan of their Flat ground blades above any others I've tried, though. So, finding one that carries well, fits in the hand well, and has a nice flat ground blade would be my pick.

And the inexpensive Tenacious fits that role perfectly, for me.

Though the new Mules seem to be well worth the price, too. I've got two. :)

I don't hardly buy fixed blades of any brand. So no I never keep up with Mules.
Chinese steel, is it made there? Yep, found it's country of origin, China as I figured it must be at that price.

... but the Men use fixed blades. Didn't you always wish to be like them? Didn't you?

The Mules are a good place to start. The Chinese steel is pretty good. Can take abuse.

Caly 3, probably my favorite knife of all time, especially for EDC. I think I actually prefer the vg10 version with G10 scales since the G10 make it feel so tough and ready to work and the vg10 is awesome to work with and sharpen. It is also a little cheaper than the laminated ZDP-189 version with CF scales (which I also have). The more I carry and use my Caly 3 the smoother and more a part of me it becomes. Honestly...I think I almost like it too much. You can usually find one for around $85. Good luck! You'll undoubtedly love whichever one(s) you choose.

That's OK I'll pass, I have fixed blades just don't buy them often.
Don't have any Spydercos from China or Taiwan yet, so doubt I'd buy a Chinese Mule either.
Don't need to be like anybody besides myself, thank you.

For about 80.00- 85.00 range. Will be used for EDC and hunting back-up.

For hunting, I recommend a fixed blade as they are much easier to clean after the hunt. For EDC, a folder. For your budget, you can get both. The Mule and the Tenacious would make a nice combo and it's within your budget.

I think I'm going to get a Manix 2. It seems to have all the features to support the and it has a nice closed profile.
