I've been searching all over to look at who sells stabilized wood and I've read some reviews that kinda scared me. So my question is where does everyone get theirs from?
Thanks.

I've tried a few different places. Mark at burlsource.us has supplied me with the best by far. He's a member here too, burlsource is his username.

Burl Source is hard to beat - because he has his wood stabilized by K and G.
Stick with anything stabilized by K and G and you'll be alright.

Karl is correct about the K&G service and Mark's business appears to be built primarily around providing wood to knife makers. The one service that he offers that is really nice is that he will cut any blocks that you buy into scales for free.

Another vote for Mark at Burlsource. I've purchased about 20+ pieces of wood from him, and they have all been excellent. Great guy to deal with and quick with shipping.

Mark is good, and his reputation is well earned. Another guy I like is Rob at Bad Dogs Burl Source. He has high quality material, and his pricing isn't bad.

Definitely Mark at Burl Source! I've tried 3 or 4 different places and Mark's stuff is hands down the best. Great service too

I have not purchased from Burl Source, but would not hesitate to.

I have made a purchase from Dream Burls (also a member of this site, and also uses K&G), and I was very happy. I feel like I got really nice blocks for a good price.

I strongly agree with the aforementioned comments. K&G is a great business with which to deal. They are extremely fast and economical in the treatment of woods sent to them. Treaters MUST keep up with the newest polymers and methods of treating wood. They obviously do so. Larry Davis in Eugene, Or. also does great work and sells top material.

There is nice material to be had on the internet, but some of their treated wood has a home treatment or they use someone who has an inferior treatment process. This becomes obvious when you do the final buffing and you just cannot get a good pollish. Ahhhh, the learning process.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
Right now my selection sucks because the new batches have been going away quickly. So now I am doubling the batch sizes I send to be stabilized.

Something nobody mentioned is that K&G not only does stabilizing, but they also have an inventory of stabilized blocks for sale on their website, and the prices are cheap. If you use standard size blocks 1x1.5x5 you can't beat their price/quality.
I really like everyone at K&G. They are always friendly and do what they say they will do.

Not a lot of mention of Bad Dogs, so I'll throw Rob and Donna another shout out. His stabilized blocks are all done by K&G and he's been my go-to supplier for about a year and a half now. Rob is very personable and has been a real pleasure to do business with. I've not found another supplier that can touch him on quality, variety, and affordability. His shipping rates on large orders are dirt cheap. I like to stock up when his big batches come in. In fact, I have another $500 worth of stabilized burl blocks that should be arriving from them tomorrow.
