Best steels for non- blade Damascus

mild steel and nickel. 15n20 if you cant find the pure nickel. Even though its mild steel, if you heat treat the parts after you drill and slot them, they will show more contrast after the etch, but you don't have to esp if you plan to coffee etch afterwards for color.

It's my understanding that this is the same product that gun folks use to 'bling' out the hardware on firearms and it is extremely durable. If I did anything other than kitchen knives, I would use this on every blade. The only reason I don't use it on my knives is that there is no information about food safety on this product.
