Well, I feel obligated to comment on threads that go this deep in Buckdom....
The differences in the USA made Buck stockmen are internal along with external. Here is a thread I did over in the Buck forum that has blade well photos for anyone interested.

The old black sawcut version has it's scales moulded onto the liner and bolster unit. It is held on by pieces of the scale insides being melted in milled out holes to form a sort of plastic (valox) rivet head. The front liner/scale has one less 'rivet' than the back in the area behind the shield. The Yellow, Black Dymondwood and Red Chairman DW have liners that are solid and have scales that are riveted on in two places. The black sawcut has only one rivet showing ,where the knife is put together when the bolster pins go in. That rivet holds the springs and is visible at the bottom of the scale. The other models do not show the spring pins.
Ok, that explains some differences......
Lots of times, more than I like, there is polishing media in the guts of Buck folders. If you have a slow closer, do a hot soapy water wash and mineral oil bath, clean all that up and lightly oil and then see how it folds.
I continue to live for the day a Buck folder has a true warcliff blade, Dami blade or upgrade steel blade. I am not holding my breath.
Several years ago I earned a forum slap on the hand penalty for berating off shore made knives and was specifically grousing about Bucks imports. Buck is making every effort to make knives in the USA and those knives (and country) I bashed at the time have proven all along to be very well fit and finished folders. So you won't hear me say anything now, in fact I carry one fishing all the time. I support you if you if you like them after all it supports Buck and their survival is important, just on the slim chance I will eventually get to see a 301 or 303 with fancy blades.
