I haven't kept track of some of the newer BMs. I would lean towards the AFCK due to its handle, belly (vs Styker), point, and opening hole - even in ATS34.

Dude, the Stryker is awesome.

I had a 730, but I sold it to get the 910. I miss the 730, but I don't think I could live without my Stryker. I need to get *both*.

I'm with Nonbox! The CQC7 is a much better knife than the Benchmade. The CQC6, would be even better, if you can locate one. If you are stuck on the benchmade Akula, then I suggest going to the knife center. They have the best prices around.

Here is a link to them... <a href="http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-CustomListProducts?Benchmade%20Stryker%20Series,2,16,=,bm,&,60,=,stryker">CLICK HERE</a>

GOOD LUCK!

I think nonbox means the BM-970/975 CQC-7 that they used to make before Emerson made the production models in his own factory.

Even though it is a bit dated and could use some minor upgrades, I would still have to say the AFCK.

My vote is for the afck mainly cause I am biased I do not liek tantaoes =) but there are lots of die hards who say tat the cqc7 is hard to beat.

Comrade Chang may be right, as I have the original (Emerson designed) BM975, and the Emerson CQC-7A. The 975 is larger, heavier, and beefier then the 7A. I may sell one of them. Both are new/unused. The 975 is 3 15/16 ATS-34 Tanto blade. The Emerson is a 50/50 serrated black blade. Any ideas which will sell easier, if at all?

Depends on what you think tactical folder means. The Pinnacle is probably the strongest Benchmade with its Ti slab handles and integral lock. The Pardue Axis lock has an aluminum handle and might be just as strong as the Pinnacle. The 710 has the Axis lock, a very versatile blade, and can be got with M-2 high-speed steel.

In my opinion, if there is such a thing as a "tactical" folder, it definately isn't a liner lock. The AFCK is a good tool though.

Maybe the new BM 940.
I like the reverse Tanto Blade and a black blade.

If you are into tanto's how about the 722? If not I would say the 710. I personally think the best tactical Benchmade would be an axis lock AFCK, but they dont exist.

I have 2 CQC-7's (a small on & long one) 2 Afck's (small & large) 2 Strykers and 1 auto-Stryker. For me the manual Strykers both pinch my thumb when trying to close them with one hand. My small AFCK M2 is alway in one of my pockets. For pure good fit and solidity you can't beat the AFCKs or the CQC-7s, by Benchmade, for the money spend.

hows that for $.02 worth. I just like Benchmade for the money.

I looked over a 750 last weekend, it didn't come close to my Sebenza but for a C-note it is a very nice knife. My favorite Benchmade would have to be the 140 Nimravus (plain), nice blade shape, sculpted g10 handle, good balance and size. Mine is in ATS34, which I regret, but it does do well when canoeing. I'd get the M2 next time. The sheath sucked, I modified mine, I'll post a pic when I get my scanner up and running again. The edge was ground very obtuse, a very thick edge with a very narrow secondary bevel, uneven as BM usual, a couple hours with DMT stones made it slice much better. It still does hold a candle to the Livesay Air Assault.

If "tactical" means self-defense and fighting, there are better choices, IMO, than Benchmade.

If, however, Benchmade is the question - AFCK can be carried, deployed, handled and used with tactical ease. Other Benchmades may be what they may, but if limited to Benchmade, one could get fairly tactical with the AFCK.

Ron (Muzzleup), how does the Stryker "pinch your thumb"? It doesn't do that to me. Maybe different hand sizes?

I think the BM975 CQC7 is the best not the emerson ones. The BM975 is almost 4" and is bigger than the current emersons.

The BM975 CQC7 is bigger than the strykers. I stopped buying BM because they don't come out with over 4" larger folders.

Some will say size don't matter but in a fight I want the bigger blade.

Gotta go with the CQC-7 from Benchmade. I haven't seen Emerson's version yet, but I hear it is essentially the same as BM's. I've carried one for almost 4 years, and has worked well as a tactical/utility folder. If you are legal to carry an auto, the BM AFO, or a BM 9700 (auto CQC-7) is the way to go.

I would say either the AFCK or the 750 mono
lock. I just got the 750 about two days ago
and i really like it alot. Just as much as my
AFCK.
