best thirty dollar knife any ideas

seriously have a look at the rat-1.
Good using drop point and locks up as solid as any emerson or spydie I have.
Full comfortable handle with no hot spots or edges, it is a pleasure to whittle and carve with the flatgrind. Good fishknife as well, easy to clean.
Their aus-8 is as good as my sog's
I think it is the best deal out there for the money, makes me regret some of my spendier folders

idk i think i just can a better steel with kershaw for same price point

I think I read that you don't have any Buck knives? If you don't you definately have to get a few. I'd start with a 110 or 119, you will find that for the $ Buck is VERY hard to beat.

Mustang, there is nothing wrong with AUS-8. You do swap off a little edge retention for ease of sharpening, but AUS-8 will take a ferocious edge and hold it under reasonable use. Some of the super steels are a bear to sharpen so AUS-8 is a reasonable compromise.
