Best Thwaaaack!

May not be the 'best' butt this Vaquero Grande makes a helluva "Thwaaaaack" when whipped open, sans thumb.
(If I can hold onto it)

Sorry, but my knife with the most satisfiying sound has NO thumbstud or other opening device anywhere on the whole knife.

SOG Tomcat........very nice solid Thwaack when I pop it open, AAhhhh.

For a conventional liner lock the Magna is king. Rock solid lockup and with a flick of the wrist (Thwaaack!)

. The stout no nonsence 4" blade is always ready for business.

** MY Dalton Cupid is way faster than MY Microtecs.and Hand opening My Blackie Collins (STRUT "N" CUT IS Way Faster than my SpeedTech .No Comparison .so their $39.00 Knife.

Thats a Good ONE

The Spyderco trio of Wegner, Military, and Starmate all make the same sort of thwack, and on a more important issue, lock up fairly securely. The Military and Starmate have the advantage (IMHO) of a sort of radiused tang where the liner meets the tang...they'll probably never wear or get so out of "tune" that the liner goes to the far side of the tang. Good idea here by Sal Glesser... this way they avoid an oval shaped stop bar that must be rotated to retune the liner/tang mating.

And for a spine lock / rocker lock, the SOG Tomcat is hell for stout.
A real brick $#!+house, for sure.

The Cold Steel XL Voyager closes like an old solid wooden door. There's a great heavy feel to it. Gotta love it. Now I haven't handled a Vaquero Grande, but I wouldn't be surprised if that topped it.

I had a gunsite and it had a nice, solid Thwack to it! genesis has more of a click. I made a lynx lockback kit from jantz and it has a nice snick to it.

My Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn Combat Folder even "outWHACKs" the VAquero Grande. You should hear this baby crank open!

I have to go with the cs xl voyager also, the sound of mine is somewhere between that of the slide of my glock and 12 ga. pump.

I own Benchmade and a mini-SOCOM and I hate to say it but the knife that consistently gives the best "Thwack" is a $15 all-stainless knife I got from Frost Cutlery. Before I found out what good knives where I bought several knives from them. Most broke within a week. This is the only one I still have 2 years later. (I keep it in my bathroom for random utility chores).

Large Wegner. Most impressive thwaaaaaack I have heard. I love the sound of it. Almost like racking a pump shotgun. Gotta love it!!!
