Best Tool and Method for the Sharpening Challenged Like Me???

All kinds of logical fallacies there, dude, but it's clear your opinion is firmly made up. ::shrug::

Thank you. I appreciate that. But no need to be sorry for me. I'm very blessed by The Lord.

I'm not jumpy at all. Just can't stand people quoting me, then talking from their ARSE!

Calling all other ways to something other than yours "silly gizmos", i.e., discrediting them, is just wrong! Saying you AGREE with what that person said, is also saying you are discrediting the other ways of doing it. I can prove that there is no "best". As was said, the OP mentioned he has trouble sharpening sharpening. He is already asking for guided sharpening. So, why would you try to lead him in the opposite direction. Learn to help! Stop discrediting!
Ya kinda like that "discredit" word, huh.--You need to read my post again about "lies-discrediting-silly gizmos". If you will check the end of my first post you will notice "Just my $.02 worth" Meaning I'm not disparaging any one else's opinion. Just what I've learned from a lot of personal experience.----The word is spelled ass. I wasn't talking,I was typing.-Thanks for your time to explain all that to me. It didn't change my mind about sharpening knives though.--KV--Oh yeah, you might want to stay away from the W&C sub-forum.

I'm sorry..... Did you start this thread? Oh yeah! NO, you didn't! Not trying to change your mind on anything there, sport! Never was.. Was trying to properly answer a question asked by the OP(that's Original Poster, since you have trouble with alternate names.. who hasn't heard the term ARSE?!?!) Then you decided to quote me, and try to explain how wrong we all are. The OP asked for opinions related to guided sharpening systems. Nobody cares about your two cents. Like I said, anytime you want to compare your edges against mine.. you let me know! Champ!

Oh no! Stay away from the WC forum?? Oh my! I'm scared! Not wise to threaten people here spot!

You're a fun guy but I believe I've wasted enough time on this one.-"Spot"?== Good luck to the OP with your sharpening skills.--KV--

I find, personally, that the Lansky systems aren't conducive to significant reprofiling of edges, and that's what it sounds like the OP needs. The ability to bear down on a freehand bench stone with both hands and body weight really helps get the job done fast. It's not exactly rocket science so if you do have the use of both hands then it's one of the more expedient ways to get the job done manually.

The Lansky system, with the XC diamond hones, can reprofile, if the user is patient. It can be done quicker freehand, but the skill level required is higher. For that matter, a belt grinder is even quicker, but requires even more skill. My point is, I believe the OP can accomplish all of it with the already-owned Lansky system. It's not the greatest system, but it's already paid-for and can certainly handle modest needs.
