I took this on trade after reading a post at the traditional folders and fixed blade thread, you know that on going stickey. I had to give up a DU limited edition fixed blade and a new in the box 285uh but I love the numbered stuff. I wasnt even familiar with the kious till searched some old threads here. Any info on this would help pretty interesting piece, and did they really only make 100 of these? This has probablly become my new favorite or most collectable maybe who knows lets see what you guys can tell me about it.

Congrats you big turd!:D

That is one beautiful knife. I was hoping you'd get a nice carrying case with it.

Now I'm really jealous!

Man...

That is a great knife...

I remember them doing 1,000 serialized pieces, released in 2002...BUT, they looked like this one in the thumbnail. Your's appears to have Green bone handles, rather than Brown, a cool shield, and is obviously numbered "...of 100."

I believe our own "sheathmaker" knows Joe Kious, so maybe he can add something...or maybe someone else can as well.

Beauty!!!

Congrats, Awesome knife! I was bidding on one awhile back but quit after something like $230, it went for over $250. I hope to own one someday but need to complete some of my Old Timer collections first.

Joel,

I can't honestly say what the story is...:(

Pure conjecture here...your knife looks like maybe a smaller numbered issue within the larger issue. Several differences...(bone color, shield, numbering, sheath)...but the same pattern and blades.

IMO, it is a mighty fine piece, no matter what.

Could anyone put a sticker price on the 3 custom knives Larry posted:

The Kious
The D'Holder
The Barnett

If someone runs across one that is new in the box, what would be a reasonable price to pay for each of those three?

And Bill I believe you are correct in the series numbering, and the Brown Bone Shieldless ones are 0100 through 1000 possibly.

Thanks for opinions.

The limited edition of 100 may have been SFO through A G Russell. I was talking to Joe Kious about it about six months ago and he said he thought some NIB pieces could be had from Russell, The original Schrade offering was for 1000 pieces, but I'm pretty sure about the Russell SFO and 100 pieces would be about right for that. A good place to ask would be the A G Russell forum up front.

Edited to add: Doesn't that black pouch in the first post pretty clearly say A G Russell Knives???, plus it is not Ostrich grain.

Paul is correct, there were two "Schrade Kious" knives, the Brown Bone (1,000) and the Green Bone (100). I had one of each at one time. :-)
You did really well Joel.
