Best utility Emerson?

I am not really into recurves, I'm holding off as long as I can leaving for work waiting on the UPS truck with that 13. Im very excited it is my first new Emerson in a long time. I had a 15 when they first came out but it just wasnt for me. I have had a couple of Commanders but they were both ps and that just didnt do it for me. This 13 looks very promising.

I don't mean to thread jump here, but it is related.

What about the SOCFK? That seems like a great utility knife, am I missing something that would make this a less than desirable choice? I was going to pick up a spear point, PE, then I read this thread and it hasn't been mentioned.

nothing at all wrong with SOCFK's imho, i love my tanto SOCFK and edc'd it for a year or so.

I think it was mentioned earlier on, but as the gent pointed out, they are harder to obtain than most. There is only one dealer who has them on a regular basis. But they are definitely among the coolest Emerson designs IMO.

The 13 got here after I went to work but I had my wife bring it up to me. I am very impressed by it. I had some extremely thick cardboard from soda concentrate boxes that needed cut down for recycling and it went right through them. Scary sharp out of the box. The handle is very comfortable and the point is a needle. I am looking forward to putting it through its paces more today.

I understand from your other thread that you have settled on the horseman for now. I just received my CQC-12 today and I can already say that it is the best damn thing I've ever bought myself (knife wise of course). It sounds like you have the money to burn, so you might as well go for the top Emerson.

I'm not trying to advertise, but I used Rush knives from the bay and I got mine in roughly a week. Great guy to deal with for getting a 12, he kept in touch everytime I asked a question.

Good luck finding "The One," sounds like you have plenty of Emersons to keep you company, J.

I think I got one of my 12s from him as well

The 12 is by far and away the best EKI, I really wish they would add a few more HDs to the line up :grumpy:

As far as I'm concerned, the 12 is the best all-around production folder on the planet considering the price. Can't go wrong with that one man.

The only other folder I'll buy (I'm not a real knife nut or a collector like most of you ;)) will be a customized buck 110 for when I go hunting because the price is very affordable and it won't be a big deal to lose it in the field or smth.

BTW, I would never buy any other emerson because: I just can't get myself to like and trust linerlocks; I hate chisel grinds; and I don't like ANY other of his designs.
