Best Vacation Knife

I don't know what you've been told but California has very good knife carry laws. Not the best, but better than most.

I should have said LA, I didnt mean Cali in general...the municipality for LA SUCKS when it comes to knife laws, you cant carry any fixed blade!?...but CA isnt exactly as liberal about knives as AZ...

my standard vacation knife set up is a sak, either farmer or military and a spyderco native. if you're in a hooky dooky part of town you carry the sak, if you're just bumming around then you stick the native in your pocket. neither of these will cause a stir and it either or both are stolen you haven't lost much. later, ahgar

then what would you take to ca, where very little is legal?
Didn't you hear? They arrest people and put them in labor camps just for carrying a toothpick from a SAK the moment you cross the CA border. Yeah.

Then, in the camp store you get buy a clue for a quarter and a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Sheesh, people.

SAK or maybe a Leatherman. First rule is bring quality (duh!) but make sure losing it won't break the bank or your heart.

I'm fixing to head down to Guatemala with my dad for 4 days. Will likely just take my Leatherman Wave. Might also take my Endura if Spyderco returns it in time for the trip (sent it in for sharpening). Leatherman for opening beers and fixing up anything that needs fixing up, Endura to do fierce battle with fruits and veggies.

I don't have too many knives so i'll be taking either my Buck Juno or a Fatty, with either a buck Stockman, or a SAK

I just picked up 4 Gerbers on another forum for 20 bucks shipped. I now have some beaters that won't set me back should they be taken, lost etc while travelling.

Usually I have a medium clip point Voyager when I'm on the road.

I would go with a Leatherman Ti Charge , and a small Spyderco of some ilk , ie a Delica , caly Jr. or the like . Multitools occupy a null zone in the eyes of most sheeple and LEO's , the Charge can fake it as a tactical , and is a truly nasty fist load - more effective than a lot of saps or knucks . Small Spydies dont raise any flags and are cheap and replacable .

Lest we forget , the good old SAK is hard to beat . Add a good LED tactical lite and you are good to go .

Depends, if I'm just traveling, I take my regular EDC, and the FB in my truck. Right now, it's my Benchmade 707 Sequel, and my Ontario TAK 1.

If I'm going fishing, I'll take my Spyderco Pacific Salt with me. Might swap the TAK 1 for one of my Moras.

SAK and either a fixed blade (most likely my Razorback knife) or a locking folder (Griptilian or Endura 4), depending on the area I'm going to.

I went on vacation back in July, and brought a small load of knives, since I drove out. The two things that saw the most use were my Victorinox SwissTool, and a larger LED light. Of course it ended up being more of a working vacation than I had hoped. Sister in law needed some repairs done around the house, since she is between men at the moment.

My Cuda Maxx saw some kitchen duty, as well. In public I carried a big slip-joint French Le Thiers folder.

i live in LA County and the fixed blade law applies. you can carry any size as long as no part of it is concealed.

as for municipality, the City of Los Angeles gets so much pass though from other cities that LAPD officers usually take it at thier discretion and give you the benefit. so long as you look the part and dont use the magical words "its for self-defense"

as far as i know the only no-no's are autos and balis over 5cm and double-edged knives
