No doubt we've all got a lot of knives, and many may have some costly ones too but what about your vote for the value for money knife in your collection/herd/tribe?

Mine goes to a 'lowly' CASE Small Texas Jack in Amber-Bone with cv blades. It is extremely practical-having a nice modified pen-blade too, sturdy for tougher tasks and yet easy on the pocket in all senses. Very well made and a decent piece of authentic American cutlery(appealling to us Euro collectors/users) for under 40 USD. I'm constantly pleased by it, but what's your choice?

Regards, W

I'd have to go with the Victorinox bantam. 3 1/4 inches, 1.5 oz, One blade to cut stuff with, a combo tool that does duty as screw driver, can opener, bottle opener, light prying, and tweezers and toothpick. ten bucks from Smoky mountain knifeworks. Small, lightweight, versitile, low price.

Any of my Spyderco Byrds for the absolute best bang for the buck.

Kershaw always seems to make a nice product -- again good bang -- especially when you find and buy new old stock or discontinued items

I would say one of the Victorinox SAKs, depending which flavor one prefers.

The Kershaw Skyline will get a mention, but I just don't much care for the way mine requires a wrist flick (done just right) to get it to fully open with the assisted opener. JMO.

The Spydie Tenacious looks like a possibility, but I've never had my hands on one.

Value also does not necessarily mean cheap, which throws in there the Delica, Endura, mini-Griptialian, etc.

But a SAK Farmer or something like the Explorer probably tops my list in this category.

Peace out.

I'd probably say kershaw is the best of the lower prices and they've got THE best service, then Benchmade, then Spyderco. Spyderco uses some of the best steels but Benchmade uses better blade designs and cooler handle designs (that are more ergonomic) and also uses better locks. Especially for one handers. You can't go wrong with either of those three though. It comes down to personal preference. I've had and do have knives from all three companies and they're great. No problems with anything other than a loosening clip on a griptillian and that was after I fell on top of it and slid on the pavement (skateboarding drunk at 2am).

If you don't care where the knife comes from, then a Spyderco Tenacious is probably the best budget knife. At some point I'll try to replace it with a Manix... but for now it's become my EDC.

The Kewshaw Skyline is a great EDC knife that's made in the US. It's the lightest folder I've handled, and has a robust blade. It deploys a little fast for me to carry it around where I live (yes, I know, really stupid reason, but I don't want to get in trouble).

For a little more money, and if you don't mind a "batman" style clip, the Kershaw Junkyard Dawg is king.

Overall, however, "value" is a relative term when it comes to knives, given that with proper care they can last for many years.

I am impressed as hell with my Cassxx Sodbuster jr. It has a CV ~Chrome Vandium~ blade and is one Sharp little son of o gun!!!! I only use mine for day to day regular ole Civilian use. No Zombie killing, No Close Quaters Combat type stuff, just cutting and slicing of everyday items. Really, it is a heck of a little folder...

All grand choices, the SAK Farmer is impossible to ignore due to it being so well-made and offering a lot in a small form.

Still, I LIKE the look of a bone handled knife..having said that I have a great respect for my BM Mini-Grip too!

case soddie jr or my yeller med stockman both CV both get alot of pocket time
the soddie was 20 bucks and the stockman was a gift so i dont know but around 30 bucks i think

Definitely just about any SAK. Also, the humble Keshaw Vapor, which is a good knife for just under 20 bucks.

I have to agree with Kershaw, I've recently acquired a Cyclone, and for the price, the quality is outstanding.. It cuts like maddd too.

There's spyderco too, they have a wide variety of quality and prices to accommodate just about anyone.

For fixed blades, I would say Rat cutlery, I don't own any RC's but I do have a TAK and for the price I payed it's an outstanding knife...

Becker Necker, cheap, usefull and bulletproof. I've had mine going on two or three years, and it has been my faithful companion for more hiking/camping/fishing trips than I can count. All this for what 30 bucks? Can't wait to see what Becker comes up with in the near future.

For me its got to be the SAK Super Tinker, like baba said, no zombies or CQC but for the suburbs and the office, its got it all - screwdrivers, blades, scissors, awl, toothpick, tweezers. I've got alot of knives like all of us here but I've realized I dont go anywhere w/o it
