Everyone has their favorite machete. In reality, almost all machetes are just a piece of sharpened hardened carbon steel. There's nothing special about one that a dozen others don't have. As long as you're buying from a quality maker, a machete is a machete. Most cost $20 or less, most come sharp, most chop like you wouldn't believe.
With that said.... I have a condor machete that has survived a year of rusting away in a field, numerous chips in the blade from stupid use, and countless hours of bushwhacking. And you know what? It still functions just fine.
