I would like to take advantage of the upcoming "Black Friday" sales. Is one system better than the other? Do they cost about the same? Your input will be welcomed. Thanks.

Just my opinion, but they're pretty much the same thing. Cost is right around the same. I've played them and there's no noticeable difference.

I have Xbox 360 and Wii. I would go with the Xbox simply because there are more games for it than any other console. Just about every game is made in Xbox

I like the PS3 mainly because I'm used to the controllers & their online hosting is free. They also have a ton of games.

If you're gonna play sports games like Madden than you should get a PS3, I noticed a big difference with the smoothness of game play between both systems.

I would recommend to stay away from the X Box 360 and get a PS3, and what ever you do don't get a Wii, they are so gay.

Well there you have it.;):D

My first system was the first playstation. So I went with the PS3. Never had a problem. Never felt it was lacking anything. They have some awesome exclusive game titles. Plus the online hosting is free. I think Xbox is like 50$ a year or something? But you can't go wrong with either one.

I'd stay away from Wii, unless you like games for kids.

Just depends on the type of games you want to play. Since most games are platform exclusive, you kinda need to pick the console that has the games you want. If you are just a casual gamer, Wii would probably be my bet, cheaper, more family friendly (typically). Xbox 360 or ps3 are fairly close, although the Xbox is close to due to be replaced, and so the ps3 is going to be around a bit longer.

For kids the Wii is good. My son has both the Xbox and the PS3 and you can't go "wrong" with either. What you should do is figure out what type of games you favor and pick the console with the highest rated games in that area (i.e. sports, racing, fighting).

They haven't been substantially changed for a few years, so you could always just buy both used!

The wii u is has one upped the wii.

The xbox360 and ps3 are pretty much pepsi/coke. I have the ps3, xbox and wii. I prefer the ps3's controller. The ps3 plays bluray discs. The xbox will play most downloaded movies no prob, where as the ps3 will block bluray copies at time. (they will play for about 20 mins then lose audio/video etc) The "newest" version of the PS3 looks like a big POS (sliding top loading design) . I'd get the previous version.

I have all three. I much prefer the Xbox360 due to the fact the online gaming is far and away better than PS3. Another plus for the new black Xbox is it has built in wireless N. PS3 still uses G so I have had some problems with connectivity over wireless. I used to be a Playstation fanboy until I bought my Xbox.

I have the Xbox and love it. I've played the PS3 quite a bit and love it also. Online gaming is free on the PS3, but you can pay a small amount and receive free games every month. The Xbox needs a paid account for online gaming, but I found the experience to be better.

Xbox 360 hands down if you're going for online play like Call of Duty, Gears, etc. Yes, PS3 has free online- but it sucks. The Xbox Live is much better. I happily pay for it. PS3 has some good title if you aren't looking for much online play. God of War is a great series. But the Xbox exclusives are just as good. Gears of War is my favorite franchise ever.

Always been a fan of gaming. I will say that I never could warm up to the controller on the xbox. Sony has been it for me. I remember my Atari 2600, Vectrex, TurboGrax16, NES, SNES, Sega MS, Sega Saturn, etc. Now, PS3 all the way.
Parents spent a small fortune in consoles over the years. :D

when it comes down to it get what your friends have, both xbox and playstation are superb, there wouldnt be so much arguing on which ones better if they wernt. i prefer xbox but my friends have ps3 so guess what...i got ps3.
they also almost make all games for both, EX: there are only a few titles that are only availble one one.

I did the same thing back when I got my Xbox 360 around 4 years ago. Xbox is more for online and multiplayer and PS3 is more of a single-player console.

PS JBK: I know Halo is on Xbox exclusivley and Battlefield is on Xbox 360. I'm not sure if Battlefield is on PS3 though

If you want a good variety of games, it really comes down to the PS3 or Xbox. Most Wii games are geared towards a younger crowd (if you have kids, that may be a good thing) and a lot of titles don't get released on that system. Personally, I prefer the Xbox 360 over the PS3. There are tons of games offered for it and the online play is great with tons of players. I also find its easier to navigate. I've also become used to the Xbox controller so that's a preference thing for me but if you haven't had any system before, its not an issue. As others have said, you can't really go wrong either way. One thing to think about if cost is an issue is that both consoles have expandable memory. The 4GB Xbos 360 slim runs around $175 and that will be enough if you only want to play casually. The cheapest PS3 is around $260 I believe. If you get the 360 and decide you want more memory, you could always pick up a hard drive, spend 30 seconds installing it and you'll have enough storage space to never have to worry about caching anything or deleting old game data.

when it comes down to it get what your friends have,

That's my advice, along with looking at the games available. If you plan to just play by yourself, look at the games available for the consoles. If you plan to play online, get whatever your friends have so you can play with them. If you plan on playing online, but don't have any friends, go back to looking at the games available.
