Best watch for $100 USD?

That's about the right price too. I got mine on ebay for $100 shipped, wore it for a little while and sold it for $90. I just didn't like plastic. I prefer the Pulsar Solar Analogs.

I have one of those (PUA-109), as well as the PUA-111 (same watch, only with a blue face, round markers, and a red seconds hand), and they are both excellent watches. Not too long ago, I saw a like-new PUA-111 sell on one of the watch-forums (SCTF) for $40!.:thumbup:.:thumbup:.

Wow, someone on a whole other forum brought up that thread today. It has quite a following. That was years ago, too. We've all (that wasn't just my teachings in that thread) learned new things since then.

I guess everyone forgot my requirements of a digital watch with non metal straps...

oh well, good reccomendations. I will look into them when I need a "dressier" watch.
 
Well, you could go for a few different G-Shocks. These are a bit larger than the 5600 you are replacing, but not particularly big by "G" standards.

The 330 is a nice looking one with the functions you require, and solar and sets by the atomic clock.

The last two are both more comfortable IMO than the 330, although it is plenty comfy as well.

The one you posted that you were considering looks neat enough, although I have never seen one in person.
 
It is the G-100. They make them in blue or black. There is also a model G-101 that has a standard instead of negative display. I have one of those also in black and wear it quite a bit.

The blue one in the photo was one that was on clearance at the Wal-Mart near us. They sold plenty of black ones but the blue ones did not do so well...think I paid right at 40 for it which was very good.

I like the blue and the reverse. Maybe I'll get one as a beater.
