Best water alternative for diamond sheets

Oh yeah that's normal. Mine look like that but still cut well.

That is what diamond sheets look like when stained by metal. I used simple green and water about 50:50 when I used to use those 3M sheets for some jewelry and lapidary work. I used them very wet in a bowl of water/soap.

I don't know that you will get perfect results on steel, but have at it.

What's Simple green? I'm in EU so I need an alternative.
It's a general purpose household cleaning solution and degreaser that you can mix at different strengths for different applications. I don't know what an EU equivalent would be exactly, but I assume there are a bunch of similar cleaners on the market.

Not a water alternative more of an idea. I had a friend who used a cool mist system at his hand sanding station. He used diluted Simple green. I tried it on some different equipment in the shop (with water soluble cutting fluid) the air compressor annoys me.

" ..... the air compressor annoys me."

Build a little doghouse size shed outside and put the compressor in it.

Simple Green smells like black licorice....My father used it for his parts tumbler. I have that smell imbedded in my memory, as a kid I was responsible for fishing those parts out of the tumbler and cleaning them before powder coat.

Been using them on S90V to achieve a nice, even 800 grit satin finish.

These sheets are marketed for fine sanding of high carbide steels.

You are going to make me not like It anymore....haha.
I know exactly what you mean by having it burned into out souls....so to speak.

For me it's Watco Danish Oil Finish...... I Love It.

*Now I'm off, chasing down my jug of SG to sniff.
