Best way to clean and protect a knife

PDE

"Yea i just warmed up vinegar, mustard, grapefruit juice, and squeezed in a tangerine for good measure then stuck it all in the microwave. Should i worry about soaking the whole knife?"

I cannot wait to hear the result of your brave experiment.

If you have wood handles you may want to avoid getting it on it. In a different thread, it was mentioned that oxygen plays a role in the patina formation (oxidation), so don't put it in a ziploc either.

I tried mustard on a wood handle Barkie and I think it ate some of the wood finish off. I'm sure someone with more experience than me can chime to tell me I'm right/wrong. It was my first attempt.

If you have G-10 handles you have nothing to worry about, IMO.

Yea, well we will see. I definetly will post the results when i see what it looks like, probably tomorrow morning or so.

Luckily, my Aurora has a micarta handle. I just have the knife sitting point down in the solution, by the way it is occupying a cup at the moment.( just blade is submerged.)

Titanium is ur friend and so is hot soap and water. If you have a stain use a SOS pad with lite pressure letting the pad do the work not the force or pressure. Drop some minerL oil on the pivot and ur good. The more titanium on a knife the better as that is less u have to worry about.
