Best way to do a convex grind?

If you are not too busy can you show an image of that set up please, when/if convenient.

I don’t post pictures because I don’t know how to use a hosting site and I don’t want to learn.

It’s just a hollow platen, make one from a hardwood to try it out. The hollow area is not very deep or tall.

I have read your post a few more times and I am starting to get an idea of what you mean, I need a better platten so will make one and incorporate your method.
I knew those fork lift truck forks would come in handy.

Hmmm...I like that idea Devin! So it's a reverse radius platen basically! Very shallow hollow grind on the platen. The hardened steel platen would give a more consistent grind knife to knife than the felt to rough it in!

Tim Wright does this "dished" platen concept as well for convex grinding.
