Best way to drop fat

go drink unfiltered water out of a stream or brook, preferably just downstream from a rotting carcass. You'll loose about 20-30lbs, in 2-3 weeks. On your way to the doctors for the shots your gonna need, stop and buy some depends diapers(if you havn't already). I call this the Civil War diet. I'm writing a book on other creative ways to loose weight. I'm working on the diet were I drink 2 pots of coffee and eat 6 cans of Boston Baked beans, I just started a couple of days ago. The effects are spot on...my undies.

I can't testify for these fine folks here whether or not your War Of Northern Aggression Diet really helps with losing weight..........but I can testify to the fact that you need to wash your ass, Geno. I can smell you from across town, & I pray that you fall off the Fart Food Diet before I return to work...:barf::D

I've been on that diet, gkn....and indeed lost 25 lbs. in a weekend. 6' and 147 lbs ain't pretty on a big-bone dude. :(

I personally have lost about 30 lbs over the past 4-5months (was 245 lbs and im now 204), Im 6' 2" so I still got some work to do. Basically alll I did is stop eating garbage. No chips, cookies etc and try to eat less when I can. I also excersise every day--I try for at least 40 mins of cardio and I also workout in the gym for about an hour each day. Getting great muscle gains and losing fat fairly fast.

Its hard work but I love it. Im working to getting in great shape. Its my only obsession greater than knives now=)

I heard something the other day that I thought was really helpful...

"Eat. Not too much. Mostly plants."

Someone who doesn't sweat much may come close to water intoxication that way.

But yes, drinking enough water is indeed very important. Your urine should always be clear. I make sure that I never drink less than a gallon per day.

Very true, unless you take vitamin supplements-which often have a side affect of making your pee yellow =P

also this one-
"Eat to live don't live to eat"
A lot of people eat as recreation/hobby or to aleviate depression or compensate for unsatisfying lives. Of course theres nothing wrong with enjoying food and having the occassional pick-me-up, 'variety is the spice of life" but also remember "everything in moderation" (even quotations! lol).
:)

-Eat protein: Protein takes more to process than other forms of nutrients and it builds muscle
-Build muscle: Muscle takes energy while it's being built, resting, and healing
-Drink lots of water: Helps lose water weight, and cool water kills a calorie or two.
-EAT CARBS!!!!! Low carb diets are dangerous for the body- just make sure that they are healthy carbs and you'll be fine.
-Eat atleast 3 FULL meals a day
-Eat 5 balanced meals a day: this keeps your metabolism going
-BREAKFAST!!! Breakfast kickstarts the metabolism- otherwise you go into starvation mode. Some cereal and then a protein shake on the way to work will cover this. Otherwise, a chocolate banana protein shake covers breakfast (chocolate protein power, milk, a bit of ovaltine, and a banana).
-Green Stuff

Good luck!

I would agree with most all of the above - with the exception that you don't have to build muscle necessarily...you can just tone and refine what you've already got and it will increase your metabolic needs.

I might have missed it ... but are you guys taking vitamins or supplements with your diets and exercise?

This worked for a friend of mine....

Provided that already eat a fairly well balanced diet, cut your meals in half...literally!

Only eat half of what's on your plate, or if you don't have the will power to stop eating, dump half in to the garbage before you even sit down to eat.

Most restaurants in the USA give you huge portions.
Eat only 1/2 the salad, 1/2 the bread, 1/2 the appetizers, 1/2 the main course, 1/2 the dessert, and stick to water or wine for your drink.
When you finish eating, there should always be plenty of food still on your plate.

It sounds easy but most of us have probably been psychologically conditioned as children to "clean your plate" and not waste food.
So, throwing away 1/2 is very difficult for most folks to do.

Good luck,
Allen

"Toning" is building muscle, just not as much of it.

perhaps I am not communicating at my best...

What I mean is this:

no exercise = you only use a small percentage of the muscle to get around

strength-training = by working the muscle, you require a greater percentage of it to "start working"....part that has been somewhat dormant. So, instead of 10% of the muscle doing the work, now 70-90% is laboring.

This is different from body-building, which is adding bulk/size to the muscle tissue, rather than making the tissue more efficient. You might add a little here/there...but the focus is on strength, not size.

That's part of the theory behind these guys:

Thanks for posting that link. I really enjoyed their site.

They only thing I would suggest is that, although 100% correct, their advice won't matter for 99.9% of the poplutaion.

They are looking at training elite level athletes, climbers, what have you.

The difference between myofibrillar and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, etc isn't really applicable to someone just starting out. What the Gym Jones people do would physically break beginners, because they do not have the base strength levels to safely do the workouts.

Understanding your ACTUAL fitness level or "training age" is probably the most useful insight an exerciser (or their trainer) can have.

Ok, ok so I gained 10lbs of fat over the winter season. What are some of the ways you landlovers are droping the pounds. I am laying off the carb intake, just cereal in the morning so my hair doesn't fall out, and running, and free weights. You?
\

Kieth Richards diet...

In the morning I have a nice bowl of air then I smoke a filterless camel...

for lunch I have another sensible bowl of air..a shot of whiskey and a half a pack of camels..

For dinner ...more air and I smoke a half a carton of camels...the weight is falling off...

I use whey protein powder aswell. If you're going to be using muscle building supplements (creatine, etc.), be very careful with what you use. Thing like GNC's NO2, while being VERY useful at building muslce, will cause effects similar to roid rage, and can shrink your testicles.

Daniel- you said what I meant. Thanks for the clarification, because it appears that I came off wrong.

I respectfully disagree. To shrink your testicles supplements would have to actually do something.
My opinion is that anything beyond a good protein and multi is a waste of $$.

Also I don't believe steroids cause 'roid rage, anymore than too many beers helps some people free their inner moron. Been around people on AAS for a most of my life, and funny how most of those experiencing "Roid Rage" also experienced tequila rage, Jack rage and beer rage.
