Best way to dull a blade?

Nothing wrong with just taking the knife to a belt sander or grinder. I've made a trainer for a X2 Voyager and a Sebenza that way. Make sure you completely round the edge and point. Make the point almost squared off, look at Benchmade's trainers to see what I mean. Having a duplicate is more important for a folder than a fixed blade, IMO, as the dynamics of opening a folding knife under assault really have to be practiced with a similar knife.

Take a rubber mallot and pound the edge and point into some concrete and finish it off by "cutting"/sawing directly into some more concrete or files or sharpeners. I never did that before, but that seems like it would do the trick.

Maybe wrap some duct tape around it after dulling it down just to be safe.

They make rubber trainers, as Absintheur said. But they don't replicate the weight and stiffness of the real thing. I've had success with dulling blades by rubbing the edge on a sidewalk, as if sawing it. When it's pretty dull, use duct tape around the "edge" just to be sure it's safe. The tip can be snapped off. Until you make a decision, use that knife as much as you can; maybe that will get it a little dull for you and you'll have fun at the same time.
