Hi all! It's been a LONG time since I've visited. I tend to migrate from hobby to hobby... and sometimes back again.

I've got a decent collection of Spyderco knives that include several collectible / discontinued models. I'm looking to sell most of them to fund another project / hobby.

I've read the new rules for the exchange. Specifically, the requirement for photos to include a written note with my forum screen name and the same date as the the day the thread is posted.

Should I list each knife in it's own thread? Or is it better to list them all in a single thread? What is most efficient or preferred on the forum? I don't want to step on any toes! 😊

Thanks for any helpful hints!

Welcome back!

First thing you need to do is go buy a membership! it's required to sell.

Read the rules a little further. You can only list one sales thread per day, per for sale section. So you'd probably be best to list them in one thread, unless you want to spread them out over several days.

GLWYS!

Thanks! Just got the Gold membership.

A couple more questions, if you'll indulge me! :)

Taking photos of what may end up being about 25 knives and getting them sorted and edited for online viewing will take some time. The forum rules require a written note in the photo with the same date as publication of the thread. How do you guys go about this? Or should I chunk it up into several posts (over several days)?

Secondly... All knives are "LNIB." What kind of picture(s) are preferred? Closed? Open? Both? Show centering of blade? Knife next to the original box? All the above? Individual photos of each knife? Or a picture with several of them in one shot?

Thanks again!

You can put a bunch of knives for sale in one image with the timestamp, and then take individual pix to show prospective buyers what they are considering. No one wants to buy a pig in a poke.

(The timestamp is merely a way of showing that you have all the items listed. That's why a group shot is okay. And the date must match the date of the first post in the listing.)

The more info you share with the members, the better chance of a successful sale from both sides.

Also, you don't have to list everything at once. Post a few one day, a few the next day, next week, whatever. Only limitation is that you can't post multiple threads in the same category in a 24 hour period. It's not too onerous. Take your time and do it right.

Oh... so you mean all in the same thread? That would be easier to track replies, etc. Or should each group of knives have it's own thread?

Thanks again. I just want to make sure I do it the "right" or most proper way.

Good idea!

Depends on the knives for sale. Folders go in the folders section. Fixed blades in the fixed blades section...etc

Personally, if it were me, I'd only list a few at a time. Do a group shot for the timestamp, and then provide detailed images of the knives open and closed.

It's not a problem to have multiple sales threads as long as they are spaced out as I described above. No way I would put 25 knives for sale in one thread unless I was only selling them as a lot...and that would be a harder sell, as most folks won't be looking for that unless there was something particularly enticing about them.

Best advice I can give you is to take your time. Prospective buyers will tell you in the thread if there is something more they need to see or have described.

Great advice. Thanks! Looking forward to it, as I've got some cool ones that are long since discontinued, and I have the boxes, paper, etc.

I've got my work cut out for me, too! I think breaking it up is a very good idea.
