Best way to sand down a G10 Leek?

Hello, I just picked up a Kershaw Leek with the G10 scales. I really like the feel of it so I don't want to sand the whole thing down. I was thinking to just smooth it out a little where the clip makes contact with the handle. I know that I need to use a resparator, not a sanding mask. What should I use to bring it down? I was thinking just sanding it by hand but I also have a Dremal tool. I just want to make sure that it is uniform and looks like a smooth band that belongs there. Also would it mess anything up if I removed the center screw on the handle while I am working on it, so I don't scratch the finish on the nut there. Anyhow thanks in advance for any answers, have a good one.

I sanded the rough edges with regular 220 grit sandpaper. The factory edges on the handles were a bit rough for my liking. It did not take more than a couple of seconds to get the handles where they were much more uniform around the edge. It is impossible to tell where I did the work. I am very satisified with the results.

If you are doing what I think you are doing (lightly sanding the very rough G10), you don't need a mask. Just use some 400 or 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and lightly go over it. If you remove the Pivot Pin, use lock tite when you replace it, so it doesn't loosten. You may want to work on the edges a little harder as gnystrom said. After, wash, rinse, and blow dry well.
good luck.

Thanks, good to know I don't need any special sandpaper. I just want to smooth it just under the clip. There are three nuts in the handle there. Can those be removed so I don't scratch up the nice finish on them when I sand?
