Best whittling knife

Tarmix101, what's the red handled knife on the spoons in the pics? Very nice work, BTW.

Thank you :)

A nice one to use is from Kershaw, a favourite of mine that I still own,
that alone speaks volumnes ;)

Not counting purpose-made carving tools (X-Acto) and a little Finnish fixed blade, the finest whittling knife I've ever owned was a Holley Wharncliffe Whittler, given to me by my grandmother when I was sixteen.

The knife was (in its time) an inexpensive slipjoint, made right down the street from where I was born, and in the same town as the "family home" for three generations.

White bone handles, carbon steel blades, and sharp as the dickens. Fit and finish was superb. Top-tier craftsmanship.

Lost it in England.

:(

Some day I'll find a replacement.

So far, the Case Wharncliffe Classic Whittler is the nearest copy of the Holley I've seen.

*Sigh*

Just got a Queen D2 Whittler in white stag bone.
Very sharp.
Been playing with it...
Very different from my Henckel in SS, which feels like a standard stockman.

With the Queen.
The main clip is the same size as a small stockman, but much thicker due to the double springs for the two smaller blades.
So it is a very strong small blade, which is comfortable to work with.
The two smaller blades are for detail.

I like it!!
