What is the best fire making stick in your experience. Is the magnesium stcick you can get from any wally world the best or is something else better. Even if i have my own tinder which is best?

I like the Swedish fire steels. I can't tell you if they are the best for not, but they last for 1000's of strikes, and have never let me down.

I prefer the mischmetal rods that I bought at goinggear. They throw molten globs rather then just sparks. :thumbup:

I use a "Light My Fire" rod... the Army model. I tossed the striker that came with it and now use the spine of my fixed blade knife (sharpened spine) or the awl on my Vic Farmer.

Well for the more traditional form I would say the Aurora Firesteel.

Before that I used the Swedish fire steel, but the Aurora works much better.

The sparks burns longer. It's really noticable en gets your fire started easier.

And there is of course the Blast Match firestarter. The big advantage of this is that it is operable with just one hand. So that means you can use your other hand to block the wind, keep the tinder on it's place of what else you would like to do with you hand
