I haven't any experience with either, but want one of each. I like the look of smith and sons stuff, very sexy. Everyone know Bob Dozier is the shit.

I live like 3 minutes from smith and sons, go there every once and a while. I dont own any of their fixed blades (yet) but i have friends that do and let me say you wont be disappointing, very good quality and free lifetime sharpening

I had an S&S Cherokee for about a day (lol) in the short time I had it before I sold it I was in love with the aesthtetics of the knife , and now want a Brave, but was underwhelmed with the factory edge. It seemed very obtuse and didn't make very an exceptional slicer nor did it seem as keen as I would like, even for bushcraft use. Once I get a Brave it will most definitely get reprofiled and sharpened unless the family Smith has changed their edge. Can't speak to the heat treat as I didn't really use the knife.

I don't know anything about Smith and Sons, so I can't comment on their knives, but over the years I have owned several of Bob Dozier's knives. It would be difficult to beat his D2 heat treat. I had one of his whittlers that I used to cut up a bunch of cardboard boxes. After about a hour of cutting, the blade would still shave hair off my arm.

I don't know anything about Smith and Sons, but I know Bob Dozier does D2 right. It's about as good as that steel can get, in every respect.

Like many here, I don't know anything about Smith & Sons' D2 or their blades. I own a number of Bob's fixed blades and I have not been disappointed. You say you're getting both, so answer your own question and you can relate your observations here.

Like many others have said, I don't know a thing about Smith & Son's D2 or their blades, but you can not beat Bob Dozier's D2!! :)
