Better knifes

Buck is a well established knife company that makes a quality product. I'm not familiar with Coast's knives and multitools, but a quick glance at their website left me with the impression that they sell very cheap Chinese knives and multitools, a couple look like knock-offs from other brands and they use some awful steels.

I prefer Buck. I would also prefer a Ferrari over an AMC Pacer....

I've only owned a buck fixed blade.

But when it comes to production knife companies, spyderco is where I look to first.

Buck. Coast has knock offs of a few brands' knives. As was also stated before they use very poor steel. Even at $12 for a coast knife you can buy better.

BUCK, but I only have experience with their 420HC, don't know how their other steels are

Although I do own the classic Buck 110 and 119, it's the Nighthawk series that I really like. But while I wouldn't mention Coast in the same breath as some of my favorite brands, I do have an FX350 with a 9Cr17Mov FFG blade that I consider to be a good "high value" folder. A person could do a whole lot worse.

I think this is a poor comparison. Buck is a legendary brand made in the USA. My grandpa had buck. Coast is an import economy brand. I would think it's a given that Buck crushes Coast. (imo)
My 1984 buck 112 and sheath, I sold here on the forums

I've had two Coast knives. Both were freebies. Neither were impressive. I gave one to a friend who is not a knife guy and he appears to enjoy it. The other was an assisted opening model that was so badly made the thing could not be opened as intended but sometimes would pop open when you did not want it to. I threw that one in the trash.

I've owned numerous Buck knives of various designs and all of them were excellent. The 110 is an American icon and a groundbreaking design. The Vantage Pro is fairly low priced, well made of excellent materials and remains one of my favorite knives.

There is no comparison between Buck and Coast.

Hey... my best friend had a Gremlin with a small block 350 in it back in the day. He used to just blow away Camaros but probably not Ferraris :D

First of all it's "KNIVES".

Secondly, none of those brands are considered of the better knife brands. Do your research on some REAL knife brands and then come back with a more amusing discussion.

There ya go bud. I fixed it!

what? how? buck knifes are usa made and dont break! some are simple and easy made but then some are made for tough situations

Good, Better, Best.

While Buck knives may not be the Best, they definitely are Better knives.

Coast? The best I could classify them would be Good.

Big Mike

The best I could classify Coast would be "crap". Buck on the other hand makes a broad assortment of everything from "meh" to "pretty damn great", in my opinion of course!

lmao you funny!! why what you think about buck?

Buck deserves some respect for their long history of making knives, and their revolutionary 110 model. Aside from that the quality, designs, and choice of materials of the knives they make today is mediocre at best. Buck is no where near close to being considered a "better" knife.

"Better" knives would be considered in the the Spyderco and Benchmade range. Incredible knives would be considered in the Chris Reeve and Hinderer range. Top of the line mind blowing knives would be considered in the custom/handmade range.

Buck is considered to be in the lower Wal-Mart range, and Coast is simply just crap. Do you understand?
